What do you think of Hillary Clinton running for President?

Last year, I read Dick Morris' book, "Condi Vs. Hillary", in which he heaped praise on Condi for a lifetime of true achievement, while he relegated Hillary to one of those people whose every action and word is directed at a very self-serving goal. In this case, it is to become President.

It is obvious now that everyone was right about her stint as a New York Senator. Everyone said she would just use it as a stepping stone to get into the White House. Just another Clinton lie.

What do you think about the character of these two women? I am definitely in favor of Condi running for President, and I know that she would be a marvelous advertisement for the United States since foreigners would have a much harder time dredging up the mindless, vitriolic hatred towards a black woman as opposed to a white man (Bush).

In my opinion, Condi is better educated, more experienced, far more likeable, logical and rational than Hillary.

Please keep answers polite.

since the last election had such high voter turnout, I believe Hillary would be crushed in an election. Her record speaks for itself. A good looking man (Clinton) can be elected by liberal ignorant women but I don't think they will be voting for his wife. Plus most of the Conservatives are now voting again so she doesn't have a chance.

Blech to both. I just wish that one didn't need to become a celebrity before one had any hopes of winning the presidency (or even the nomination for the presidency.)

I disliked George W. Bush from day one because he got where he was simply on the coat-tails of his father and his father's network of friends (he's given me many more reasons since then, so this is one I don't ever think about any more). I dislike Hillary for the same reason. The fact that Bush became a governor and Hillary became a senator has only convinced me that in America ANYONE truly can do these jobs.

I don't know much about Condi's rationality or education, but I do know that she promoted the war in Iraq and our mistaken pursuit of WMD's which either means she's a liar or too incompetent to be trusted with our national security. The North Koreans have nukes, the Iranians are close, Iraq is in or on the verge of civil war, our former allies hate us, the worst attack in our nation's history occurred during her watch as national security advisor...could you please delineate exactly which "true achievements" Morris is talking about? I mean did she lose 50 lbs in six weeks and keep it off or something else we don't know about?

By the way...as far as advertisements for the US go, everything you said about Condi would also be true of Obama.

My take on the two of them is very different than either your or Morris'. I see Hillary as a strong woman who has made her own way in the political world. Being a two-term re-elected NY Senator only demonstrates that she has done well by the people she serves, and has more experience to add to her resume. I don't see how her serving in the Senate amounts to lies; it's an elected position after all, and she has done the job well. Saying it was just a stepping stone is tatamount to saying any job anyone ever holds but leaves for a better one is wrong. If that were true, we'd all still be working at McDonald's.

Condi, on the other hand, has willingly been the mouthpiece and tool of a corrupt government. Her education and achievement in her own right is very admirable; I don't doubt either her intellect or her strength. I doubt her ethics, character, and conscience. Her record of serving the Bush Administration is unlikely to win her any admirers abroad; the opposite is much more likely. So, I doubt she has any chance at winning the Presidency. Unfortunate waste of talent, but she made her own choices. And that makes me doubt her political acumen, as well.

I personally don't care for either of them.

Even I (a liberal) agreed that Clinton was running for senate just to get in line for the presidency. I think she's self-serving and hypocritical.

I respected Condi to a certain degree, but the New Orleans disaster pretty much wrecked that for me. When she was caught buying $500 shoes in Manhattan while the Superdome rotted, I pretty much just chalked her up as yet more of the same.

The idea that liberals will vote for Clinton just because she's a woman is idiotic, imo...

LMAO. I don't agree that Hillary can do a better job, not because she is a woman, but because she is two faced. She claims to stand up for Democratic Values, but only does so when it works out for her. If she feels that the right wing will paint her as being "too liberal" and "weak", then she strays from her so-called beliefs and votes in favor of the "right's" position. I've seen too many examples of her willingness to compromise democratic principles to ever trust her running for President. I feel that her quest for more power has blinded her. To answer your question about a Democratic Nominee that I would proudly support: They would do a number of things better that include: 1) Supporting a REAL increase in the minimum wage. 2) Supporting a real solution to ensuring that every American has healthcare coverage. 3) Abiding by Constitutional and International laws when confronting our neighbors, by not sending our brave volunteer military into numerous conquests to satisfy a personal thirst for bloodshed and empire, by using war as a last resort while allowing diplomacy to take place first. 4) Fixing our Middle Class by closing the numerous loop holes in our trade agreements that permit our trade partners to continue unethical and despicable practices and that allow companies to leave this country in favor of those same Third World Countries. 5) Pressing our Trade Partners to improve their labor standards, effectively decreasing the amount of immigrants that come to our country illegally over a period of time. Point to be made; if they have better working conditions and pay in their home country, then there will be less determination to move to America. 6) Stopping the free give-away of American jobs to insourcing by leveling the playing field. This can be done by forcing companies to pay and treat all workers the same no matter if they are American or "guests". 7) Returning to a credible policy of respecting our environment, by forcing companies to obey the environmental laws and working with our allies to prevent global warming. 8) Giving scientists what they need to research possible solutions for our numerous problems. 9) A real plan to get the job done in Iraq and Afghanistan starting with a promise to the people of those countries that there is NO PLAN to establish permanent military bases in their countries. 10) Funding education the way that it should be, instead of ignoring the obvious problems at hand. 11) Paying down the National Debt, the Budget Deficit and Trade Deficit. 12) Protecting the numerous entitlement programs that help our poor and elderly. Pay as you go has proven successful for decades, no reason why it shouldn't in the future. All these and more have been discussed for a long time on my xanga site.

I plan on voting for Hillary and watching her win in November '08. Condolezzy is just a Bush clone, a liar like her boss and I wouldn't vote for her for dogcatcher. Hillary Clinton is an extremely intelligent woman, has served with distinction in the Senate and will make a great President. Rice on the other hand, while intelligent, has yet to serve with distinction - all she does is stand by her man - Bush.

You owe it to yourself to actually LISTEN to what Hillary has to say - don't be so judgmental until you see where she stands on the issues.

Dick Morris is a Bush pawn. Sorry, that's as polite as I can be.

I think Hillary is just a politician. Business as usual type. I think it funny she supported Obama before he was elcted saying how great he was and now that he's running against her for president...he's a liar and a cheat to the american way of life. Well Hillary, you can't have it both ways.

I think it's sad that she is considered by many Dems as the best they have to offer.

Condi Rice is my choice...so I hope she runs at some point. I think it's time for a woman... just has to be the right woman... not hillary... Go Condi

Are you serious? She is the postergirl for all of the lies that have been fed to the American people. Did you see her getting grilled by the Senators a few weeks ago. She has no shot, as she is way too in bed with Bush. I am not crazy about Clinton, but then again, we will get two Presidents for the prise of one. Hey Bill, welcome back to the White House. We missed ya.

I think you summed it up very well. Condi stands head and shoulders above Hillary. I would love for Hillary to run for President so I could watch her be exposed for the self serving politician that she is. Of course that is just my opinion. If she debates Condi you couldn't pay for better entertainment. If Hillary has a brain in her head she would avoid all debate simply because her stances on issues are indefensible and her arguments would appeal to people's emotions and not their common sense.

Your are correct in every way. Unfortunately, the American public adore most emphatically the ones who deceive them, and hate those who try to tell the truth.

It bothers me to the core how the female and African American community have not rallied behind a good, decent model American like Condi Rice.

For Condi's sake, I hope she doesn't have any higher political aspirations. She doesn't deserve the abuse it would bring.

I hope some day, Americans can be mature enough to accept a truly great person like Ms. Rice.

I have yet to see a politician without some form of personal agenda.

It is called 'Get Rich Quick', by sucking the financial blood from the hardworking poor taxpayers. Why? Because they know the taxpayers are not going to do anything, except gripe to one another.

No action on the part of citizens as a whole, equals continued political corruption.
