2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited or 2002 Honda CR-V?

My parents and I are debating between a used Jeep or CR-V for my first car. What are your opinions?

Automatic transmissions in newer jeeps have a history of being problematic. Yet the transfer cases are about as good as they get. If you don't mind a manual transmission and you want to play in it...get the jeep. If you are looking for something to mainly just deal with snowy or icy roads in, a CR-V will do just fine. I'm not saying that the Cherokee won't, I'm just saying that it could be a little overkill. The Cherokee will also cost a little more in the long run when it comes to gas, "possible" repairs, and insurance.

The Grand Cherokee is a lot nicer but it might not be as reliable as the CR-V. The Honda, however, will have an I-4 and will be just bare bones while the Jeep will be loaded, since it's a Limited. It might also have a V8, which is cool, but I don't know if you worry about mpg that much. If you do, you might want to get the CR-V. Good luck.

I would say that the CRV is a much better suv for a first time driver. The CRV is much safer and gets better fuel economy. Also, the Jeep is going to be much more expensive to maintain over time. Obviously, the Jeep is going to be a far superior vehicle for 4-wheeling. However, day-to-day highway driving the CRV definitely beats the Jeep. The Jeep is "cooler", but the residual value of the CRV will also be better. Overall, the CRV is a much more practical first car.

I see your name is Paul so im guessing you're male. Also you say its your first car so im guessing you're in high school. Im in high school and i have an 01 grand cherokee and a lot of other kids do to. If it were me i would pick the jeep not only because i own one but because it's styling is better and its USA. In my opinion the designer of the CR-V should be hung- it is very ugly. go jeep hands down. not only is it a hot *** car but you can go anywhere and the ladies love it.

Jeep grand cherokee is what i would want to choose, but the CR-V is probably a more economical choice, less insurance cost, higher fuel milage, lower cost. But the jeep is much better in style and luxury and its way better in say a snow storm

Go with the Honda. My dad had a Jeep, My girlfriend had the Honda. The Honda was by far the better vehicle. Better build quality, better gas milage, better resale value, better safety rating, etc. Go with the Jeep and learn a hard lesson. Go with the Honda and be happy for a long time!

Hondas are made better, more reliable, last longer and hold their value better than Jeeps. But the Jeep looks like a SUV should look.

Test drive both and see which rides and handles better. Some seats are more comfortable than others. Pick the one that feels right to you.

  • If you wanna get the ladies, go with the jeep.

Hondas have better gas mileage, but jeeps have 4wd that is pretty much unmatchable. I live in michigan (where we had freezing rain for a whole week about two weeks ago) and the 4wd has yet to even start slipping.

Also, jeeps might cost less, depending on what you get.

well from a teenager point of view,

the jeep looks cooler and you will be able to have alot more fun in it, but they can't get warm up that easily and they tend to roll over in a hard turn.plus ur insurance will be high but if ur parent are paying 4 it its all good. lol

the honda is more depenable and have beeter gas miliage, plus u can bring friends in it and not get crap, they also have more tech in it and there not so easy to break into.

so as a teenager i would go with the jeep
