Do AF personnel really get compensated for staying in Army barracks?

I've heard that if Air Force personnel are training in an area where they're required to stay in Army barracks/billeting, that they get compensated for sub-standard living conditions. Is that true?

Update:

Hey, don't be mean. I didn't make it up, I said I'd heard it. And I didn't say it was right or made sense. I was just curious. And I'm sure it would depend on location, but it wouldn't surprise me.

My BIL is an E2 in the AF and has a house with almost the square footage as his parents. My Army E6 husband and I just "upgraded" in Feb. from stairwell housing to a different apartment with "more" footage but less space, go figure. Our new livingroom barely holds our couch.

The DOD establishes a standard of living by pay grade. The standard is for all branches of the military and is based on Square Feet of Living Space, number of roommates and the bathroom facilities.

E1 through E4 90 Sq Ft - up to 4 in a room central bathroom.

    E5 - E6 135 Sq Ft - Private room - Shared Bathroom.

    E7 - E9 270 Sq Ft - Private room and Bath

O1 - O2 250 Sq Ft -Private room and Bath

O3 and above 400 Sq Ft -Private room and Bath

These are minimum Department of Defense standards and each branch may have supplemental regulations that exceeded those set by the DOD.

I have seen a cases where an E5 for example while in school was put into E4 billeting because of availability and they did received a rate differential to compensate. Perhaps it's a situation like that raised the question.

I'll tell you a couple stories that are true.

I was on a ship home-ported in Long Beach, CA in the early 1980's. All the families in Base Housing were getting 1/2 their BAQ/VHA because the housing had been declared substandard and unfit for use. The Base Housing was actually off base, located in Compton, if you can believe it.

I served 22 years in the navy. One of my last jobs required that I do a lot of travel by air all over the world. The guys in our unit would go out of our way to make sure that if we had to lay over it was at an Air Force base and not a Naval Air Station.

As an example, Yakota AB's Senior NCO transit barracks were like a Holiday Inn while NAS Atsugi was closer to a homeless shelter. Plus, the Air Force always arranged transportation to and from the transit barracks and air terminal. The Navy would tell us to call a taxi if we didn't want to walk.

Nope, i was in the air force and was stationed at ft. uestis, md. I stayed in the army barracks along with a couple hundred other airmen. I didn't get "reimbursed" for that. That is the stupidest thing ive heard. The only extra pay we get besides our pay rate is per diem pay. (cost of eating and living in that area of the states) Which would be exactly what the army got paid.

No branch has maximum well liked females and all that mess. the army prepares you for actual international reviews in conflict. I mean, what in the event that they have been to furnish you each and everything, whilst the time of conflict comes, you would be depressing from loss of acceptable nutrition and comforts. The AF would not truly prepare a hundred% for floor situations because of the fact the possibility of it extremely is extremely narrow. The AF is greater intelligence-based and that they instruction manual the different branches into secure zones and launch long selection air assaults. each and each branch has its function, and that all of them could desire to artwork jointly to realize achievement!

Yes. Not just in training. They get extra pay if they don't have carpet, too.
