Once upon a time, serving in the US military was a bona fide way of earning your American citizenship.

I do not agree, however, that deporting 11,000,000 people is the best thing to do. It would cost billions of dollars to simply hunt them down and prosecute them before an immigration court, not to mention housing them in holding cells, and then eventually paying their ticket back to where their native land may be. That is not cost effective. It is sound, though, to increase our border defense and toughen future illegal immigration legislation. We should integrate the current illegal immigrants into our system, through amnesty, and make them part of our country.

I'm a "liberal" AMERICAN if I must be categorized. I wouldn't trust a military that was made up of forced foreigners would you? They could easily do harm to our troops from the inside. There would be no brotherhood there. I think that anyone who breaks the law by crossing our border without going through our immigration process should be shot on site. Why do invaders have to wear a uniform to be considered invaders? Just because they quietly slip across our border does not mean we aren't being invaded and occupied by a foreign country.

Feed them? House them? I don't think so. And while we're stereotyping, leave it to an ignorant republican to assume that liberals would want that.

Let's simplify your immigration plan, one way ticket, no pay, no tax, no canteen, no gun, no ammo. Instead, give them a shovel, a broom, a hammer and saw.

But seriously, we should have a recruiting station at our boarder crossings. All applicants could be fingerprinted, photographed, etc. Successful applicants who serve honorably should be given a clear path to citizenship.
