Dog haters?

I have a shih-tzu. It was my grandma's and is old, calm, and minds really well. When someone comes over, of course she wants attention from them. My stepdaughters mother just picked my stepdaughter up from my house and my dog was at her legs wagging her tail and trying to get attention and she was like, "oh no, leave me alone, ahhhh."

Can someone really dislike pets that much? It pissed me off. I just want to say, get the hell out of my house if you're going to be rude to my dog. lol.

Update:

Notice how I said my dog is old and calm. My dog was in no way being annoying, obnoxious, or doing anything inappropriate. I don't even have to get on to my dog for anything because she is so well mannered. It was my grandma's so... you know how old people dogs are. lol.

I am not a dawg hater, however it is very annoying when you get unwanted attention from anyone (including pets). Sometimes people just want their space, and it has nothing to do with "like" or "dislike", or "hate' for that matter. And in most cases than none, dogs behave like humans (which they are not). Somehow they think all people are friends, and it is OK to show your appreciation for the breed. Heck no! Hey, pooch! Can you give me some space, buddy? I am the big DAWG around here. So take your sniffing to the kids, K, B?

I love all animals, especially dogs. Some people don't like any animals. I've known two such people that don't even like birds singing. What a shame. I feel sorry for them. They are missing out on a great joy in life, the presence of animals in it. I dog/bird/cat just about anything sit and just love it. God bless you for taking in your grandmother's dog. The "love me love my dog/cat" saying is a good one. Or how about "If there are no dogs in Heaven, I'm going where they are". Your stepdaughter's mother sounds just plain prissy to me and not someone I'd waste my time on. I'll take the dog thank you. Have a Nice Day.

a lot of people are afraid of dogs. it's not their fault. they may have been attacked by a dog. Lots of people are bitten by dogs when they are little and it leaves a bad impression on them. I had my face literally ripped all the way off by a dog when I was little and I hated dogs for many years. Then I met an ex-racing greyhound and everything changed. Now I love dogs.

Some people are just not animal lovers and don't understand. They probably think you are strange for having pets. I know many people like that. They think I am crazy for having cats, dogs, rats, fish, and frogs all living in GASP the house!!!!!!

Hiya yep that pisses me off too!!!!!!! they dont give the poor things a chance half the time! because we all have to have signs outside our house now to say we have dogs most people like delivery drivers or postys knock the door and stand half way down the drive and already made up there mind that you have a devil dog in the house ready to gobble them up!!!!!!

To me, people who hate animals are NOT normal. There is something seriously wrong with them, in my opinion. How can any person look into a dog's adorable face and not love what they see, and not want to pet them and hold them and coo at them? One of the greatest joys I have on this earth is the love of my dogs.....they are better than people in so many ways.

I agree with you on being pissed at the woman.....I have had a serviceman come into my home and one of my dogs was play-growling at him. My dog would never bite anyone, it is just the way he plays. The man said something along the lines of "if you bite me, I'll kick you across the room!" I replied, as calmly as I could, "Oh no you won't, and if you do that, be prepared to be kicked across the room as well." I removed my dogs from the room, he shut up, and did his job. And I made it known that I detested his comment.

So yeah...I agree with others who are saying, if you come into my house, you treat my dogs with respect.....or else.

"When someone comes over, of course she wants attention from them" not sure what you mean by this, but if a guest told your dog to go away and she didn't, that doesn't sound like manners to me. i don't let my dogs get at people at the door. people are taken care of first, given that respect, made comfortable, then if they want to interact with the dogs they can. my dogs do not dictate their own behavior in my home. i don't believe it is rude to tell an animal to get away from you when the owner is not controlling it. jmo.

I giggled when I read your response, I would have wanted to say the same thing.

I hate to think it but I do believe there are people out there who just don't like pets. especially dogs.

I know some reasons may be a bad childhood experience or having been bitten. My sister in law has a fear of stuffed animals, and no one knows why so REAL animals are like 100 times worse for her.

Also, some people think they are dirty and carry disease. (rolls eyes) I love all animals (except spiders) and I have 3 wonderful dogs and a rabbit and I adore them all.

My advise to dog haters.....PHOOOOOOEY ON YOU! LOL Dogs are AMAZING.

Unfortunately, yes. I have some in-laws that refuse to come over because of my dogs (fine by me! LOL).

I have seen people who absolutely cringe when they see a pet of any kind. Sad, really. But I know how you feel, you want to smack them and say "get real!!"

Yes, some people can really dislike dogs.

As bad as your stepdaughters mother was, atleast she didn't kick your dog like the one posters father's girlfriend did or my nephews girlfriend who smacked my little girl.

I found this posted on this web site and made copies of it to post around my house.

To all non-pet owners who visit and like to complain about our pets

    1. They live here. You don't.

    2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.

    3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.

    4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

My mom loves animals. My dad hates them. He doesn't think they have souls. I believe my cats have souls and that all animals do. He just would like to have one for decoration, he doesn't *get* the care and feeding part. Needless to say, my folks don't have pets and when he sees my cats he always tries to pick them up and pet them; they don't like that. He wonders why.

*SIGH* But he's my dad and I won't give him up for anything.
