Netflix? Has Anyone else heard of this??

Coming in June, if you have a Netflix account you will be able to watch movies instantly on your computer....

"Kyle Monson - PC Magazine Thu Jan 18, 5:25 AM ET

I still remember that day, maybe two years ago, when I first heard the rumor that

TiVo and Netflix were talking about teaming up (just typing that makes my heart beat a little faster!). Since then, I've had my eyes peeled for any evidence that Netflix could go on-demand with it's enormous catalog of movies, while sticking to its subscription model.

The first step in the process was announced a couple days ago: Netflix is now rolling out a feature that lets users stream videos on their PCs (sorry, no Mac support!) The feature is free to Netflix subscribers, and you'll know you've been upgraded when you see a "Watch Now" tab on the Netflix interface."

Update:

Watching movies instantly on your PC is limited by viewing time each month. The limit is based on your plan size. For each $1 of monthly plan cost (excluding taxes), 1 hour of instant watching is included. For example, if you are on our 3 at-a-time (unlimited) plan, you pay $17.99 a month, and you have 18 hours of instant viewing time per month.

Update 2:

yes, you will still be able to rent movies... there just will be a separate tab where you have the option of watching movies online...

Update 3:

I looked into Vongo once... it kind of sucks....

yeah you only pay 10 bucks a month but that only gives you access to a limited amount of movies... and they don't have any TV series available...

all the new releases you have to pay extra for and some of the movies that you have to pay extra for are really old movies...

Update 4:

"Guba, iTunes, CinemaNow, movielink, movieflix, totalvid, and Vongo"

what is their movie selection like though??

I just saw that too. According to CNN and Yahoo news, Netflix is introducing this feature that allows you to watch movies instantly on your computer in addition to renting them through the mail. There is no additional charge, but there is a limit on the hours you can watch per month (which depends on your plan). The regular 3 at a time plan will allow you 18 hours of instant movies a month. If you have a more expensive plan, you get more hours.

I dont think it will do well, Unless people figure out a way to bootleg it off the computer and make it into a regular DvD. Who wants to sit and watch a movie on the computer? "Hey sweetie u want to stay in and watch a movie tonight? Ok well lets go sit at the computer" Not for me lol

It has recent movies and shows. Like released in 2011. Very recent. It does not strengthen it maintains to be the comparable. i think you only do unlike lots of the flicks they have. some recent video clips are: Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) The Backup Plan (2010) what's Your huge variety (2011) For greater recent movies and shows, only circulate to the recent Releases area.

Yeah, I heard of it. I think they are trying to do one better than Blockbuster, without screwing up their business model. (I doubt I'll use it, I don't watch movies on my PC). I use netflix by mail.
