I have been working at my job for a couple months short of a year. I am a damn good employee. I am one of the best at what I do & I am always there to cover other peoples shifts, stay late & pick up the slack left behind by others. I am very well liked by customers & all is good other than I do have 1 problem. I have tendency to run late. Not alot late & not all the time. And I am amongst the many who are late. But nun the less, I am a tardy employee. I was recently terminated. The reason given was for being late a week prior. I asked several times in the last week if I was going to get fired and I was repeatedly told no. The manager who fired me, does not like me and I dont like her.She had it in for me. I am mad because they waited a week & lied to me. What do you think?
Also, the girl who termed me...is only 19 & she frequents 2 local bars. After firing me, I called the 2 bars & informed them that they had been serving a minor with a fake ID. What do you think of that?

I also have the tendency to run late. I do constantly remind my employer's that I always stay late, cover shifts and don't complain. I had great reviews from customers, senior managers and colleges.
You're suppose to get 3 written warnings before termination. Be fore you do anything, check your local labour laws. After that, inform them in a written registered letter What happened.( that you were terminated without warning, blah blah) They may need to give you some money aside from your 4%. I also recommend before you start that you get letters of recommendation from the managers that liked you.

When your work day starts at 8:00 a.m. you should be there and ready at 7:45 a.m. Do you know why? It shows respect for your job and the company. You have no idea HOW infuriating it is when employees continue to show up late. It is like a slap in the face to the employer. That "one problem" cost you your job.
Throw all the other stuff away you posted. It doesn't matter any more. It was childish of you to call the bars.
As long as you learn from your mistakes it is great. WHAT did you learn from this mistake? Yes, do not arrive late for work. Because if you continue this behavior on another job, you are going to get fired again.

Try to seperate your dislike for the person who fired you, wether other people are late too, and the real reason for your termination. You were termed for tardiness. If you had been given proper warning, talked to or written warnings, they were within their right to terminate you. If you still have your original new hire paperwork, or employee handbook, give it a good lookover and make sure that your supervisors followed their company policy. Sorry to hear you got fired- but unfortunately, its very easy to lose a job with a few tardys too work. If you are a good worker, you should have no problem finding another job quickly.

Well what did you do, restaurant business I take? You cannot be late for work, ever! I would rather be two hours early than one minute late and employers don't stand for that. As far as doing other people's work, it doesn't pay, do what you have to and that is it, they don't pay you anymore. Did the person who told you you would not be fired have the authority to say so? Maybe it was out of their hands. My advice; set your alarm an hour earlier and get to work on time. I would have fired you too.

Sounds like you're 19 and have some growing up to do. #1. A good employee is not always late. #2. A good Employee does not use fake I.D.'s to break the law. Chalk it up to learning and move on.

1) If you had respect for others and your job, you would show up on time. It isn't difficult to leave the house ten minutes early. It is a sign of selfishness to continually be late. They do not owe you ANY explanation for termination.
2) Calling the bar was petty and childish. Continues to show your selfishness.

Ithink you got even so move on,I was fired a few times for things I did not do and could of easily got out of if I gave somebody up now even if that guy was willing to let me take the fall, In the end he paid with his life,no not me but his life style the drugs killed him.He died a very painful way set on fire. so just move on and dont be late.

It sounds like you shouldn't be there. If you are good at what you do, I say they should look the other way at you being late so long as you don't miss meetings or deadlines. Forget about the 19 year old, what she does on her own time is none of your business nor the company's.

Well, you failed to mention if you're a salary or hourly employee, that will take this argument in another direction. However, I think you can build a case on her! You can disprove her credibility as a responsible person in a leadership position and demand Justice!
