What is the best way to stop credit card collections from calling??
Although I do have some late fees, my credit card company continues to call more than 5 or 6 times in a day. This is ridiculous. Is there any way that I can have them stop this practice that will stand up legally?

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, requires that debt collectors and attorneys stop phoning you at home and at work once you ask them to stop. The law specifies that your request must be in writing, therefore, you should tell them to stop calling you at home and at work the next time they call, but then follow it up with a certified letter, return receipt requested.

Holy Moly! Look at all the collection agents answering this!
For starters, you say the "credit card company" is calling you. Is it really them or a collection agency?
Not many credit card companies call to harass people, that's what collection agents are for. For you need to find out who is calling.
There is a federal law called the Fair Debt Collections Act. This law regulates collection agents, attorneys, and 3rd party collectors. However, it does not cover the original creditor, so they can do pretty much whatever they want (within the laws).
Therefore if this is the credit card company doing it, not much you can do. Log the calls, and if they are actually calling that often you do have a case for harassment under many state telephone laws.
If this is a collection agency, you got it made! Send them a certified letter saying to 'cease and desist' all further telephone calls. Any further communications must by by mail. You can even prohibit mail too...but by doing that you are basically telling them to "put up or shut up"...they may begin legal actions on you. But at least it stops their harrassment.

As far as I know, legally you have no way to stop them from calling. They have the right to try to collect the debt from you, and if you're late, they are permitted to call to prompt you to pay that debt. The only way to stop them from calling is to pay the minimum you owe, or, if you can't do that, to actually talk to them, explain the situation, and give them some amount of money toward the debt with the promise (that you will have to follow through on or the calling will get worse!) that you will continue to pay on the debt on a regular basis, even if you can't pay the minimum. They also have the right to freeze your credit card for non-payment until you are caught up on your payments. Not paying credit card companies will really screw up your credit rating as they report every single time you're late with a payment. I know once they stop calling, it gets worse because they escalate their collection attempts.
At least, that's my understanding!

I would say, setup a minimum payment with your bank, this will not take a lot from your bank account, it will be 3 % of your outstanding amount on your credit card, and will stop you being charged late payment fee and fine or credit card collection calls. and then when you save money you can pay off your credit card slowly n steadily as and when you like

Send a certified letter to your credit card company telling them to stop contacting you by phone. Let them know you will report them to their Attorney General's office and pursue legal action if they continue.
If you don't make payments for 6 months or so, your credit card company will sell your debt to a collection agency. They will either contact you by mail or phone trying to collect the debt. Again, send a letter to the collection agency telling them to stop contact with you per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Unless the collection agency decides to sue (extremely unlikely), you will never hear from them again.

they can not legally stop calling you. You have to speak to them and make some arangement to help you pay your bills. A lot of credit agencies will work with you. q. this is ridiculous. what is rediculous is that you should pay your bills. companies what there money too.

You need to talk to a lawyer. More than one call a day is harrassment and they can get in trouble for that.

My only solution, which is too late for you now, is NOT to have any credit cards..... buy only what you can afford.!!

The best way is to pay your bill.
