If ---- what??
Under some circumstances, yes. If suddenly money were no object and I didn't have to punch a time clock to have whatever I needed to live in the style to which I'd like to become accustomed, you bet I would stop going to work. I have enough projects to keep me busy and fulfilled for the next 50 years and I resent every minute I spend getting insufficient pay for stressful work that uses up the time and energy I'd like to spend on what I truly love and still leaves me struggling with whether to pay the water bill or buy groceries.

Only if the following situation existed (otherwise, I subscribe to all the other statements made about responsibility, etc.):
1) I became independently wealthy through some random occurrance
2) We ran out of energy (how WOULD you be able to work? might as well spend your energy collecting plants and berries to eat)
3) Some natural or man-made disaster demolished my workplace (but I'd still try to contact my employer and other workers--this is what the survivors of the World Trade Center collapse must have experienced!)
4) Jessica Simpson called and said, "Hey Stud Muffin! I want to take care of you the rest of your life!" (ok, we got a little off the responsibility path there, but hey, how many times would THIS happen???)
