Would you home-school your kids if you could work out how to do it?

I intend to homeschool when my child is old enough.

However I would like to make a clarification here.

Homeschooled kids are no smarter (more intelligent) than their public school counterparts. They are simply better educated.

I'm home schooling my kids, and i must say one of the reason my husband and i chose to do it is for the social skill....! With public school (or Christian / private - i mean mass education), the negative effect of peer pressure and bad influences against one's family value etc can be enormous. As for me i was constantly undoing it at home and it seems that the damage of external influence was far exceeding the benefits. Mind you my kids went to the different schools and it was still the same. Homeschooling gives kids real life social situations with wider age group and with parental guidance and supervision thus encouraging them to gain the better social skill. I hope more people see it as a benefit on the top of academic excellency.

Absolutely! Home schooled children are smarter and they can be socially involved with children more of your choosing. Plus, they don't have to be at risk of getting shot by some kid in the public school system.

Actually, we decided to homeschool before we ever worked out the how of it. :) And it had nothing to do with how smart the kids could become--we didn't even know any of the statistics at that point--it was that our experience as teachers in the public schools made us concerned about our children's social/emotional/psychological development.

I definitely would, but I would make sure that they have a lot of interaction with kids their own age so that they also learn what types of behavior are acceptable(by other kids ex. letting them learn that it's not always them that make the rules or decides what activity is going to be played) in a social environment.

and you can have more choice of their social contacts without choosing their friends

and most homeschoolers are so social its hard o find time to fit school in some weeks

Public schools, public restrooms, public places in general is best to stay away from
