Math help please?
I need help solving problems like this: 8 is what % of 50. How would I set this up? And what is the answer? Thanks for the help in advance. I am just terrible at math.

What I would do first is take 8 and put it over 50. Then take 100% and put that and put it under X. You then take 8 times 100. you get 800. you divide 800 by 50 and your answer should come out to be 16%

First you suppose that 8 = p% of 50. This means
50 X p/100 = 8
Taking 100 to the right side:
50 X p = 8X100 = 800
Finally taking 50 to the right side
p = 800/50 = 16

The answer is 16%
A percentage is, by convention, a ratio of X units per hundred Y units.
This means : 8 divided by 50 is 0.16
0.16 x 100 = 16%
This means out of each 100 units of Y there would be 16 units of X

u write it out just like it sounds.... 8/50 X x/100 u then cross multiply
the answer is 16%
