Most of mine didn't itch at all (and there should be minimal "peeling"; try applying a thin film of Lubriderm once an hour to keep it moist) but I've had a reaction to two different purple inks in two different locations. Both times, it itched for weeks! Speaking of annoying, slapping will irritate the skin, so try pressing on it. If your hands are cold, it will feel even better.

What spot of your body did you tattoo? It depends. Mine was really, really, REALLY bad. I actually even got red bumps from the tattoo. I advice you to use a very thin layer of whatever they gave you. Also, try to air out the area. Wearing elastics, belts, pants, bra, anything that tights around the tattooed area is gonna make you EXTRA itchy. You can also spray it with water and air it out or tap it with paper without rubbing it. However, don't forget your moisturizer, the way you treat your tatto right now will determine the outcome...hopefully they told you this. Don't scratch it or you'll ruin it, seriously. Also, if you put too much of the lotion on it, it will become a nasty ball of crusties. You wanna clean the area with a bit of water and apply a thin layer of the moisturizer. Eucerin worked wonders for me. If you get Eucerin I suggest the "original" formula since it doesn't contain any alcohol or fragrance.

Usually a week or less. The best thing for it is to go easy on the medication and let the air get at it as much as possible.Once it starts to look like a sunburn peel the worst of it is over.I've got 30 some odd tattoos and that works best for me.

Ahh, my favorite newbie. It will last about a week and a half or so. Keep slapping it, and moisturizing. The one I got on the 20th still itches a little bit. Ready for more ink yet? I am.

Less than a week. I have large and small tattoos and I would say the longest any of them itched was 4-5 days, if that.
And yes, it is annoying.

About a week, I got my first tattoo at 18 and well, Though it is small and you cant see the flaws on it unless if you look, I scratched mine and have white streaks through it.. Id say just deal with it sadly:( And make sure you clean it

About a week, usually. If you don't put ointment on it, it will be itchier BUT it will heal faster. And, no, it won't harm the tattoo. If you go to my MySpace you can see that I have plenty of work and I didn't use ointment as often or as long as it is usually recommended, by recommendaion of my tattoo artist.
