    Joseph Patrick "Joe" Kennedy, Sr. (September 6, 1888 – November 18, 1969) was a prominent United States businessman and political figure, the father of President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. As a leading American Democrat, and staunch anti-Communist, he built a national coalition of supporters to promote the political fortunes of the Kennedy political family.
