Do you usually pray before you eat a meal in a restaurant?
Went out to lunch today, and yes, it being a Sunday, it was no surprise to me that a lot of people prayed before they ate. I noticed that some folks were a tad loud and some were silent. So do you have a special prayer for when you eat out, or is it the same you use at home, or do you mix it up a bit?

Yes, the same as we do at home. We ask God to bless the food that it will be good for us and not harm us. It's not a formalised prayer, we try to use different words each time.
My children get very embarassed when we insist on blessing the food in McDonalds!

I pray quietly and simply, just thanking the Lord for the food and for the company of whoever I'm with. I don't have a speical prayer to recite and I'm never loud in restaurants because that's rude....I don't talk on my cell phone in public like that either.
My grandfather had a prayer that he said aloud at every meal. It came from his heart, though, and I can still hear him speaking the words. Sometimes traditional, repetitive things can lose all meaning, but his prayer was very comforting and stabilizing to me as a child. I'm grateful today that he always gave thanks to God before meals.

I pray that I have enough to pay the bill and that there has not been an E.coli outbreak at the restaurant. I seldom see people praying in restaurants. Although, your question reminds me of the Norman Rockwell painting of the mother and son praying before they eat while sitting across from two young men who don't seem to know quite what to do.

Sometimes, but i never pray out loud unless i have been asked int he privacy of my own home. I think praying out loud is being rather boastful, seeing that most prayers include thanking God for what he has given you.

Always in humble prayer, never scripted or out loud, you would not notice I was doing so, unless you spent a few seconds studying me.

Being a Christian Preacher, writer and Evangelist I do not believe in form prayers.
I always pray before a meal and offer thanks to God for what HE has provided for me and my family.
But the prayer is always spontaneous, not formalized.

My family doesn't pray before we eat. That was something that my grandparents always did...I kind of miss it. But then again, we don't eat dinner together very often for reasons of our own...

I usually pray that the food is half way decent and that I didn't forget to put my money in my purse before I left the house.
Otherwise? Uhm.... no.
