Voice altering for dogs?

I am going to be adopting a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and was told that she had her voice altered because they are a breed that tends to be really vocal when they are board. What are the other benefits and or draw backs to voice altering? I don't need to hear its cruel as it was already done and very common in the breed.

Thanks for your info.

Update:

I was told that the previous family lived in an apartment and often got in trouble because she was too noisy. She can still bark, it is just a very low sound. I do not need her for protection so it does not matter to me if she can bark or not, she will just be a pet.

Mostly the risks come during the surgery itself. Anesthesia is always risky. And the surgeon can make mistakes that lead to bleeding, cutting nerves that paralize the dogs face or throat.

Once the operation is complete and successful the dog should be just fine.

And really, which is better? A homeless barker that's facing euthanasia, or a "de-barked" house pet in a loving, safe family?

People who say things like this are cruel are so stupid.

Please find out what is meant by voice altering-to make it more quiet, or no voice at all? I have known of a dog with the voice box removed. The benefit, no barking, the draw back-how well the dog can/ can't bark for protection.

they'll under no circumstances have pups. and that is the in common words side result i have ever encountered with neutering or spaying the dogs i have had. once you settle on to have this operation on your puppy (and that is a accountable act to do) detect a rattling sturdy veterinarian to do the activity. keep in recommendations those animals are dependant on you for each thing, they positioned their finished trust in you so some extra money on high quality health care could no longer be an situation with any puppy proprietor.

its done stricktly for the comfort of humans who dont want to hear the otherwise strident barking of the corgi.I personally dont think its cruel..no more so than docking tails and ear shaping..........these are all things done by humans to make their dogs more to their liking.Im sure if the dog had any say in the matter,it would be a different story
