Japanese Translation, can you tell me what ありがとう means in english?

my ex girlfriend sent me a message but the itranslate plugin was not able to translate this japanese script.

Update:

thanks for your answers, i imagine the script is in hiragana, my computer does not have the japanese language pack loaded so it shows up as squares.

Arigatou means "thank you" in English. When you look at the Chinese characters 有難う (ari: is/exists; gatou: difficulty) you are literally saying that what someone did for you was difficult for them, so, you are grateful.

My computer cannot translate the script either - all I see is five boxes. Unless you're looking for what five little squares mean, you may have to try another way to get the info you need. Good luck, though!
