Killians Irish Red, Is the date on the bottle when it was bottled or the expiration date?

Just bought 2 6 packs of Killians I see a date Jan 23 07. They are dusty bottles. Should I return them and get some Sam Adams?

That's the sell by date. Cheers!

From the Coors website (Killian's is made by Coors Brewing):

Coors uses an easy-to-read freshness code for all of its products. You'll see this code on every bottle and can. The code tells the last day the beer should be sold or removed from the retailers' shelves, from bars, and from restaurants. We call it the product's "pull date." For example, if the code on a bottle or can of a Coors product reads NOV14 111B or NOV1411132B:

NOV 14 is the day the product should be removed from the retailer's shelf, from inventory, from the bar, or from the restaurant and should no longer be sold to consumers. All Coors pull dates fall on a Sunday, and that is how you can determine the year the product was packaged. In our example, the product should be pulled from the shelves on Sunday, November 14, 2004.

The remaining information tells more details on where the beer was packaged.

    Product Shelf Life

Most Coors products that are packaged in cans or bottles and distributed domestically have a shelf life of 112 days. That's how many days from the time the product is packaged at the brewery to the time it should no longer be sold.

    Killians Beer

    You must live in Boston!!

I would assume it's a born on date like most beers have.

Either way it's Killians so it can't be bad and it's only a few weeks past due as well. Although Sam Adams is in fact that the shiznit, so it's a toss up.

I guess you could come over and we'll drink them together and determine whether or not they're old. Then I'll buy us some Sam!

Killians does in fact go bad. That s why I didn t drink it for over a decade. The 1st ones I had were not fresh. Judging a beer on it s taste when it s not fresh is as fair as stepping into an MMA match with your hands behind your back and no fight training. It s beyond not fair, it s just flat out wrong
