I was late and missed the very beginning of "Music and Lyrics" with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. I came in when Alex was at a conference table talking about the celebrity boxing show...What happened before that?

You basically just missed the opening credits. They showed a PoP video (a spoof the of the Wham! videos from the 1980's on MTv) that was again shown at the end of the show, the one where Hugh Grant's heart is broken and he's taken to the emergency room then revives when the pretty nurse takes his pulse.
