Royal Purple vs Amsoil?
does anyone have a link or any sort of proof about which one is better? i'd like to see these 2 face off against each other. i have seen the Amsoil test where they put Amsoil against about 9 differnt oils, both sythetic and mineral based, and Amsoil is best in all but one. i'm looking for something like that with Royal Purple in the test. i know RP is good stuff, cause i've watched on Trucks! where they took a Dodge Ram and dynoed it, drained all the fluids and replaced them with RP and it made 24 more lbs feet of tourqe at the wheels. i've also seen on Horsepower TV where a stock LS1 Camero made 9 more HP on the dyno with just a RP oil change. just wonderind which is best based on fact, not opinion.

i own a repair shop, and if you compare rp to Mobil one there isn't any difference in it either, i seen the test with Mobil one,and it came out as good as the ,rp, test did, when it comes to synthetic oils there's not a lot of difference in them at all,in my opinion all the newer synthetics are good,i use Mobil one,and have no problems from it,and my neighbor uses royal purple in his ca rand he has no problems either,so its hard to say here which one is better,i know Mobil one is good ,because i have ran it now for a long time, and it does very well,so really when it comes to synthetic oils its all basically good, because none of us are going to drain all of our oil out and run it dry just to prove which oil is better, good luck i hope this help,s.

Royal Purple seeks heat and the engine runs just a bit cooler, due to its additives.
So, I use Royal Purple during the summer and Castrol Syntec in the winter.
The cost of Royal Purple has steadily come down, so it makes economic sense to use it.
When Mobil 1 was very costly (in the 90's) relative to conventional motor oil, many people did not switch to Mobil 1. Mobil 1 has changed their marketing to make Mobil 1 more affordable.
Amsol (in my opinion) has missed the mass market by keeping their product off the shelves of Auto part stores. It may be too late, as the synthetic oil market has reached 50% of the motor oil market.
See for yourself. Go to your local Auto part store and you'll see that half the shelves are synthetic now.

That is accurate about engine damage in Cummins with RP as it contains moly, which is very common in greases. It has the the potential to come out of suspension in high heat and actually form into a graphite like substance causing engine damage. Diesel engines are most suseptable to this because of their higher operating temp. I do not know of any other syn or mineral oils that use moly.

Just do a google search. I found several independant researches that found AMS better. Of course Royal Purple says they are better. But the search also found some references that said some engine manufacturers (cummins) have actually came out AGAINST RP saying there ingrediants are harmfull.

I use both, Royal purple in my diesel truck and Amsoil in my diesel car, and quite frankly I can't tell that there is any difference between them. They are both very high quality and do a very good job.

I don't know about these two products but I am using Prolong in my 88 Alfa Romeo and my 65 Volvo (385K miles).
This is the one that Al Unser senior observed its performance after having all the oil drained from the vehicle and it continued running the track for something like 74 miles before they stopped the test.
He thinks it to be pretty amazing.
