How do I make my chili LESS spicy than it currently is?

Although I like it spicy, I'm afraid I overdid it for my kids. . .

Update:

This should be another question all together, but now I wonder why, when I was typing it in, didn't the other similar question pull up for me?

Anyway, that's a side note.

I've now added some brown sugar and sour cream, and it's still yummy but a little spicy. Maybe I'll try the potato next?

You can blend a cup of water with a tablespoon of flour together and mix it with the chili.

By "spicy" do you mean "hot", as in hot pepper, or do you just mean spicy? Because something can be spicy but not "hot."

Either way, you can't remove spiciness, or hotness. You have to dilute it, which means adding a neutral or near neutral medium.

In the case of chili you can add tomatoes, additional unseasoned ground beef, and maybe even a little water.

If you use cumin, cut back on that. Are you using stewed tomatoes or mexican style tomatoes ? I would say cut back on the chili powder too... a little goes a very long way.
