30-something mother of three, I enjoy doing crafts, cooking (occasionally!), and spending time with family and friends. SAHM for 2 1/2 years, I apprehensively look forward to returning to the work force once all of the kids are in school full time.
How can I go about changing the color of a specific cause's Awareness Ribbon?
As most of you probably know, the colors of the Awareness Ribbons cover MANY different causes! For example, the yellow ribbon represents Adoptive Parents, Deployed Soldiers, Endometriosis, Equality, Hope, Liver Cancer, Liver Disease, Missing Children, Missing Persons, Suicide Prevention, Testicular Cancer, and Childhood Cancer... Is there a way that an individual can change the color for a specific cause? If so, HOW? Who or what organization do I need to address? I'm at a loss here, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has tried (or succeeded) at this same task.

3 AnswersCancer1 decade agoIf a teenage child is terminal, and wants to sever relations with a parent, does he/she have any legal rights?
If the parents are divorced, and said child lives primarily with one. What legal rights does the child have, if under the age of 18?
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoQuick, easy crafts for women?
I am in charge of crafts for a women's group this fall/winter/spring, and wondered if anyone had ideas? This is a church-related group of adult mother's of young children. I have *lots* of ideas of my own, but was hoping to get a few more from someone else. We are limited to just 20-30 minutes of craft time, and budgeted to just $2 per project per woman. I realize those are some tight guidelines, but there are some things I've found! Any suggestions?
Thank you!
7 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoDoes it bother you when someone asks a question, but *never* chooses "Best Answer"?
What about someone who seems to have plenty of time to ask dozens of questions every day, but seemingly does not have the time to complete the question/answer/vote system. Or do you even care. . . Do you just answer to give your opinion and then move on?
9 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhat can I add to regular paint to make my walls litterally shimmer and sparkle?
It seems that I saw a product a few years back that you could add to a can of paint to create an almost glittery shimmer effect. I don't remember where, and I can't seem to locate it on the internet. Maybe I'm calling it the wrong things?
11 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoTrying to find a recipe for Fourth of July cookies I had the other night. . .?
I was at a Pot Luck dinner, and *somebody* brought these awesome cookies!!! They looked/tasted like they had white chocolate chips, blueberries, and maybe cranberries in them and they were *SO* good! Of course, with it being a pot luck, I had no idea who brought them to ask for the recipe. . . I looked for a name on the container, and asked around. Nothing!
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoFor those who have lost a child to terminal illness:?
My best friends child has terminal cancer. I'm thinking of asking her if she would like to make a package for her mom for after she's gone. Do you think this is wise? The child is 14, and is an only child. Dx'd at the beginning of the year, only given to the end (maybe) of this year. I was thinking, maybe notes, or small trinkets for special days, or just letting her use her own imagination, with the promise of delivering.
It seems I've read of this before, or saw it in a movie. Would it be appropriate, in your opinion, for me to even casually mention it? Or should I just allow life to go on as it is? They are *extremely* close.
5 AnswersCancer1 decade agoGood plants for 'absorbing' water? When it rains, we have some areas in our yard that really seem to get wet.
Our lot sits a little higher than our neighbors, and we had *so* much rain recently, that you could literally see the water pouring through the privacy fence into their yard. We also have problems with a bit of water on the garage floor when it rains a lot. Are their any plants or shrubs that might help eliminate this problem??? We live in Zone 6A (South-Midwest US)
5 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoMy disc drive makes an odd noise when I open or close the 'drawer', and does not work. What do I do?
It worked fine yesterday! After interrigating my children, I have discovered that while the drive was open, it was hit from the side "on accident". It doesn't appear visibly broken, but apparently it cannot load the info from the discs anymore. I put one in that worked fine yesterday, and all I get is a noise that is a sort of clicking-hum for a few seconds. The drawer does feel a little loose on the side it apparently got ran into with a knee.
Is there anything I personally can do, or will it need professional care?

8 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow do I comfort my friend who just found out her teenage daughter has cancer?
I have lived a very blessed life. Really, the only big losses I've had to deal with is the death of several grandparents. There are day to day dramas ~ things that at the time seem huge. But they all pale *greatly* compared to this.
She had her first appt. last week (we had all just thought maybe she had growing pains), and is now in a hospital 4 hours away, on chemo. Initially, it was believed to be just in her knee. Today, they discovered several other places.
My friend is very strong emotionally, but this is tearing her apart! And I totally understand that. But I don't have a clue what I can possibly say or do. Aside from saying "I'm here if you need me for ANYTHING, or if you just want to talk." This is her only child.
Has anyone else gone through similar situations and can give me ideas?
18 AnswersCancer1 decade agoI rarely watch Dr. 90210, but caught a small part of an episode where their dog died. They showed pictures?

1 AnswerTelevision1 decade agoWhat does the word "corker" mean? As in "She's a real corker, isn't she?"?
My best friends aunt ran into me the other day, and that is how she referred to her. I didn't know what to say ~ it's not a word I've ever used. I looked it up, but wondered if anyone uses it in their everyday vocabulary?
8 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoSimple snack ideas? We're having my family over for Christmas Eve, and my in-laws on Christmas day. . .?
We have all agreed to just do 'snack' type dishes. They're coming between mealtimes, and I just plan to make duplicates for each day. My thinking was something like a festive "vegetable pizza" wreath: http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/76/Appetizer... a cheese ball and crackers, cookies, peanut butter balls, and the old crock pot cheese dip standby; sausage, cheese & cracker tray; veggie tray; and little smokies. My dear husband thinks I should just limit it to the dip, meat & cheese tray, veggie tray, and little smokies. Not me. What are some good, festive, *easy* finger foods you like to fix for just such an occasion???
