Does EMT training count as volunteer hours?

I would like to know if the 140 hours to become an EMT count towards volunteer hours towards transcripts and things of that nature.

Thank You.

Update:

If it does count as volunteering and my school tells me it does not how can I prove to them that it does?

No. EMT training definitely doesn't count as volunteering. It is considered vocational training. Now, if you were to take that EMT certification and use it to volunteer at a local fire department or rescue squad, then you could count the time spent with the fire dept. or rescue squad as volunteering.

It depends what your major is and what it is you want the credit for. If you are going into the medical field, such as Nursing, EMT, or something of that nature, than it could probably be worked out to count for something. But if you aren't going into any medical field that specifically deals with emergencies, than it won't.

Basically, what I am saying is that your volunteer experiences should be in conjunction with your major or field of study.

I don't think so, you were not volunteering, you were training for a job.
