Yes, this would pose a threat to our national secruity and would pose a threat to our allies in the region.

1.) If terrorists take control of Iraq and all the oil and national resources, then they would have unlimited funding to fuel their jihad on western countries.

2.) If Iraq falls into the hands of Iran, it would boulster Iran's economy and would boulster their confidence in their nuclear program. Iran would not be threatened by the American military because they would know that America is always split on using it.

Lastly, if America pulls out of Iraq there is a good chance it will further distablize the region. It could pit Saudi's vs the Iranians and the Iraqi people not wanting to submit to either. This is the biggest problem the US faces. I did not support the start of the war, but I now support it because it is a mess we created. It is easy to call for the US to withdraw from Iraq, but none of the Democrats are putting forth a viable plan to accomplish this. But, I do not believe the Democrats really want the war to end because if it ended tomorrow, they would have no strategy to take the White House. I just think it is pathetic that the troops are being used as pawns in this political chess match.

I feel that leaving Iraq at this point would be a major defeat for the U,S, and the only way we can win is to give our men the freedom they need to win, by telling them and their commanders to hell with P,C and to call the president when the job is complete , same as Reagan did in Granada, the Marines hit the Cubans so fast and hard they didn't know which way to look , they had the whole country secured in a matter of hours , not years and very few people died in the process, unlike Iraq where the damned politicians are trying to run the war effort from Washington and with people who have never been in the military much less any military training or command , so now we have been in Iraq for 4 years with no positive results, why ? is simple our stupid politicians want to run a war with P.C and more concerned about public opinion than winning the war or saving lives,

Unless we win in Iraq we will be fighting the Muslims right here in our own streets, and since our liberal gov, has taken so many guns from Americans we are practially unarmed, and even with arms I doubt we have men with enough balls to fight, I would rather depend on the women to take up arms and defend their family's, I think their mothers fed them to much soy while they were growing up from the answers I have seen from some of them on this site, keep in mind that Muslims have lot more money for their efforts than the poor Vietnimese, so they can buy planes or what ever to fight with, also they are a lot more dedicated, and hate us a lt more because of our love for Israel who has been killing them indiscriminately for 60years and withour blessings, so think about it ,what is your opinion??

A fact is that the oean water has salt in it. A fact is that the Colts won the Super Bowl. A fact is that Earth orbits the sun.

What you said is an opinion. If the American troops leave Iraq and the insurgents take the Iraqi government your statement is still an opinion. There are too many variables to make it a fact. Someone could say that the Americans wasted 2 years to bring the Iraqi security forces up to speed, a sufficient amount of time to train any army, which resulted in Iraq's fall. That would also be an opinion but not a fact.

Even though you don't put much stock in the value of Gulf oil, I none the less have to answer that instability in the Gulf which in any way presents a threat to the free flow of oil from the region is a national security issue. Our economy is, of course, completely energy dependent.

That said, certain scenarios present greater risks than others. The Shiites controlling Iraq alone, and brutalizing the Sunni, could cause the Saudis to become involved in defense of the Sunni minority. That might cause the Iranians to find it necessary to defend the Shiites.

    That's the short explanation.

But again, any region-wide instability which impedes the free flow of oil from the Gulf endangers the U.S. economy, and the price I pay to feed my family.

It won't take place, there are far too many human beings that are inflicting issues. Corrupt politicians, undesirable infantrymen, enemies And it fairly is on us and them. In WW2 we compelled the jap to alter right into a democracy, and that they nevertheless are immediately. They even call their shape the Mcarthur shape. in the top they wanted it. Iraq doesn;t

I'm not yet convinced that it would be an immediate threat to US security but it does threaten US interests, to include oil, leverage in the region, and the ability to quickly react to incidents.

Also, if it falls to terrorists, it gives them a safe haven which we can not afford as an international community.

What Bush has been doing all along is endangering US National Security. According to the Global Terrorism Report, put out by our own intelligence services, every day the war in Iraq goes on, more "terrorists" volunteer to fight against us in Iraq and around the world. Bush's war is by far the best recruiting tool for Al Qaeda and other terror groups. Mostly our biggest problem is the Iraqis themselves want us to leave. That is why the fight us.

Yes. And I believe that is the main reason the US is still in Iraq. To keep Iran and Hezbollah out.

All the troop surges in the past have only resulted in increased terrorist influence in Iraq. What makes you feel confident about this one? The Bush administration, themselves, admitted if the Maliki government does not finally stand up then the plan will fail. The Maliki government has NOT given us any reason to keep our faith in them.

The shiites have a militia of 80,000 men. most of the iraqi army is also shiites. when the usa pulls out, the shiites will slaughter the foreign arab fighters as well as the insurgents. they'll continue with the present system of govt. since they're the majority, so democracy suits them. we need to be somewhat supportive of the shiite dominated govt. they will align with iran, irking other mideast countries, which are all sunni muslim countries. so what. sunnis are simply prejudiced against shiites. the fact is, we're too civilized to fight this kind of civil war. shiites, who are constantly being attacked by sunnis, won't be too civilized to put down the insurgency. we are our own worst enemy there! we need to get out.
