What could be worse than missing out on heaven?

I believe in God, that He sent His Son to die on a cross, a sacrifice for my sins, to pay a debt I could never pay and that that is the only way to get to heaven. I believe in Hell too, as the place prepared for the devil and those who willfully choose not to accept God's free gift of salvation through His Son. I go to church, tithe, participate in ministries, in general, live a great life! If I get to the end of my life and discover that I was wrong, what have I lost? On the other hand, if I live for myself and never accept Jesus' sacrifice for my sins and die only to discover that what the bible says is true, I've lost everything! If you are bound and determined to blow through all the stop signs God places before you, He will honor your decision. He will not force you to go to heaven, because He loves you that much, but PLEASE don't try to take others to hell with you. Get real. Stop the acting. Stop parroting what you hear others say. Check it out yourself. Just one more stop sign.

Update:

I have selected the best answer, probably not the one you all expected though. It states the reason I asked this question and what was accomplished in doing so.

Some say I am the parrot. I quote God not man.

Gelfling - From the list of bad things you say God is guilty of, I bet you would NEVER do any of those things. You have created your god in your own image.

Krisztheh.. - The question was that thing you clicked on in order to answer the question. Sorry you willfully missed it.

God does not send anyone to hell, you send yourself there.

I am the one who sowes the seed, some falls on bad ground, some on good. I am not responsible for making sure anything grows. The Holy Spirit of God is the one who brings the increase. My work is done.

May the ONLY true God bless and keep you all. I am praying for you all and you cannot stop me. Have a blessed week!

We are all now accountable to God for what we have collectively read....

    You write:

    >I believe in God, that He sent His Son to die on a cross, a

    >sacrifice for my sins, to pay a debt I could never pay and that that

    >is the only way to get to heaven.

I don't. That belief has nothing at all to do with my religious belief. According to my beliefs, the only person who can atone for my sins is ME. I can't pass off that responsibility onto someone else, no matter how willing. Also.. one dude dying won't atone for my sins, as human sacrifice is repulsive to the G-d of Abraham.

    >I believe in Hell too, as the place prepared for the devil and

    >those who willfully choose not to accept God's free gift of

    >salvation through His Son.

So.. it's a gift, but if we don't accept it we have to go to hell? That is NOT a "gift" by any stretch of the imagination. That is a BOOBY-TRAP. A "gift" would be the same whether or not the recipient keeps it or donates it to Goodwill.

    >If I get to the end of my life and discover that I was wrong,

    >what have I lost?

So.. you base your religious belief upon Pascal's Wager? Huh?

    >If you are bound and determined to blow through all the stop

    >signs God places before you, He will honor your decision. He

    >will not force you to go to heaven, because He loves you that

    >much, but PLEASE don't try to take others to hell with you.

There's that booby-trap again. He'll "honor your decision" but "send you to hell"?!? Try again, toots. I am not going to scared into my religious beliefs as you appear to have been. Your god strikes me as a weak bully.. the kind who can only have friends when he threatens others. Are those really the kind of worshippers a god should have?

    >Get real. Stop the acting. Stop parroting what you hear others

    > say.

ROFLMAO!!! You first: Get real. YOU are the one parroting what you have heard others say.

As for your question: what could be worse than missing out on heaven? Considering heaven is the "reward" for being a good Christian, I have no interest in going there. What could be worse? Finding myself in that "heaven" instead of my soul returning to Hashem.

So what you are actually saying is that the only reason you believe in god is so that you can get to heaven? Otherwise why believe in god, is that what you are saying? Because that is the way that it comes across to me. Maybe you just need to express yourself better or go back to school or something. Oh, and you are the only person "parroting" what others say. Have you ever seen god or jesus or heaven? No? Then was it a story passed down to you through the bible? Yes? THEN YOU ARE THE PARROT!!!

What in the hell are you talking about? I have read your question 3 times and still do not know! Some of it makes sense but what is the ??

You lose your whole life and all the fun it has to offer and a chance to do what you want with it, living with out fear, and living it complete freedom. That is what you lose if you believe in fairytales.

I will not even look at the alternative, what if you do not believe and you find out you were wrong and then you lost heaven and god. I know that is the reason all believers believe in the first place. They are thinking of themselves " oh my i better force myself to believe so i can be alright". It is selfish.

I do not believe the whole mumbo jumbo anyway.

Live your life man is what i say to you. Next time make the ? a little bit more self explanatory. Take care and good luck

well considering all of the convicted felons who repent their sins so they can go to heaven - ya know, all the murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc etc - all of those people are up there in your heaven, that is not a place where i want to spend eternity! being pagan, i plan to hang out in the summerland, which i think is right next door to where my asatru friends will be, valhalla, these places are where all the cool people hang out! ~~~wanna join me?~~~ and quite frankly, if you think i'm going to hell for being a witch, i'm not worried. even if your god does exist, and most of the earth's population is wrong, when i die, he'll see what a great person i am and have been, and welcome me into his heaven! cause remember, he's "all forgiving" ; )

There is nothing worse than an eternal seperation from God. I agree with everything that you have written here. Imagine ETERNITY without Him!! That's more than a billion trillion years of non-ceasing torment!! It burdens me that so many people will choose satan's destiny. Keep on witnessing and God's blessings will be upon you!!

God alone will judge. But I do believe that I have accepted Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world and Messiah, and the promised Comforter, Muhammad, the Return of Elijah (the Bab) and the Return of Christ in the Glory of the Father, Baha'u'llah.

You do realize this argument works for every religion? What if the christians are wrong and the hindus are right? What if the christians are wrong and the jews or right? The muslims? The shinto? The wiccans? etc etc etc May as well believe everything with your kind of reasoning.

The biggest stop sign I see is believing in a religion where a 'benevolant god' will send you to hell for eternity for just a life time of sining. How long is a life time? 50 years? 100? Does the punishment really fit the crime? Sending someone to hell for 100 years of sin is like boiling someone alive for shaking your hand. That is not loving. Oh don't forget that God created heaven and hell right? So this loving god thought it nessisary to send his followers to hell for eternity. Oh no, it's not god it's satan. The evil dude with the pointy stick wants gods followers to burn in hell. Not god oh no he loves us. Well who created the angels? God. What is satan? A fallen angel. Who created satan? god.

So if god never had created hell or satan then they wouldn't exsist. If they didn't exsist then he would be a truely loving god.

No god that creates a center point for evil is loving. No god who would have one of his children burn for eternity for just a few years of sinning is loving.

No god who uses fear tactics to convince his followers to following him is a loving god who is worth even a minute out of your mere 100 years of life.

In responce to your initial question. What could be worse than missing out on heaven? To be in heaven and have ones soul stagnate in one place for eternity when it could be forever learning and evolving and experiancing exsistance in a plethera of lifetimes.

Normally I try not to get so aggressive but when someone tries to use faulty reasoning or scare tactics to indoctrinate me, I get VERY defensive.

Take your faulty ploys somewhere else please.

The world is wide and a number of people believe a number of things. Most of the people who believe believe that what they believe is the only belief worth believing.

Each of the beliefs, according to the believers is the only belief that the true believers believe.

And each of them is so absolutely sure that their belief is unquestionably the correct belief to believe.

I believe that all of this adamant, insistent, strident, absolute believing is a desperate attempt on the part of believers to limit the illimitable.

God is bigger than your religion.

  • Are you serious? Most people who are not Christian are not because they DID get real and stop parroting what others told them.

Other than that, just because you believe something doesn't make it true. I won't miss out becasue you say so.

Believe what you want and allow others the same right.

    Missing out life.

Imagine if hell and heaven really don't exist, I'd be just dead and would really missed life if I didn't do anything productive for myself while I'm alive.
