vista , xp, or my hard drive?
From xp I upgraded to Vista but after being disappointed with compatibility issues I decided to go back to XP. I installed XP from booting from a CD then partition and reformat it. After copying files and re-booted it says "loading error on operating system". Have done it a few times with different intallation XP CD and all the same. But no problem when I install Vista back. Guess I'm stuck with Vista. Please Help!

if you have both windows on seperate partitions you have to adjust the boot.ini to allow for the boot option to choose which windows to load

What Linux OS said either use the windows partitioner or a linux partitioner like Gparted and delete and remake partition(s) on your hard drive. Vista is literally Gay.

Probably the Windows XP software. If you can install Vista then your hard disk is OK.
Try deleting all partitions and then re-creating.
