  • salvaged speakers from an old crt tv?

Hi guys! My 36" 70kg sony crt finally gave up on me after years of service. It was maybe the last digital crt sony marketed with 5.1 output capability. Anyway best feature of this unit was the incredible audio clarity and tight bass. So before I dispose of it, I took the speakers out thinking that maybe I can make something out of it (maybe PC speaker or an upgrade to 5.1 to 7.1 HT) .

It is a pair of 4" woofers each with its own enclosure similar to that of a polk-audio m3 monitor. It also have a pair of 3"x1.5" oval speaker (or midrange) and a pair of 2" tweeter separately but attached by a plastic bracket to the woofer enclosures.

Ok here's the deal. The original wiring was intact meaning connected to each other like a pair of 3 way speakers. I connected both speakers to my stereo amplifier only to hear music without bass. Only high frequency sound is coming out of the woofer. Do I need to add a crossover? Honestly my knowledge about building speakers is almost nada. So I'll appreciate any input you guys could share. thanks

  • 8 ohms receiver to 4 ohms bass shakers?

I have 4 pcs. of Aura bass shakers and would like to connect it to my old pioneer audio/video receiver. The bass shakers are rated at 4 ohms impendance and the receiver is 8 ohms. What is the safest connection as to not damage my receiver. Also, will I have enough low frequency signal if I connect the bass shakers on a speaker level (left and right channel) instead of the line-level RCA sub output? Only when budget permit that I will opt to use Line level connection that will require me to buy a 4 ohms 4 way amp (car amp) and a 12v power supply or buy the more expensive buttkicker or clark systhesis tactile transducer. My plan is to add another dimension to my HD home theater system. Much appreciate your inputs.

  • DLP PROJECTOR LAMPS cheaper alternative replacement?

I own a Plus Piano DLP video grade projector which is 200 watts and only about 500 lumens and 1000 hrs of bulb life. I use it on a dedicated home theater room which is totally dark projecting on a 100" screen. It's almost film like video and I've been using it for 7 years now on an average viewing time of 2 hrs/day. (Obviously it has surpassed the rated lamp life). At present I am using my second replacement lamp and I know that sooner or later it will also expire. Cost for a replacement is $400.00. Is there an alternative way or a cheaper way like replacing the bulb only and not the whole lamp assembly with the same wattage? Is this possible? Is there somewhere I could buy this "halogen like" bulb? Any suggestions or response is very much appreciable.

  • windows xp password protected account?

I encountered a system error while booting windows and a message suggested that I have to repair it by booting from my OS cd intaller disk. Unfortunately intead of repairing it, it proceeded to re-install the OS. My old old folder (in this case "My Documents") is still there but could not be opened anymore. I used to have a password protected account before I (accidentally) installed the OS. Anyway it is still the same OS installer that I used previously (windows xp sp3). Please help

  • .CDR image file download ?

I have downloaded a bunch of audio files mainly DTS 5.1 audio format. Most of it are image files and have managed to burn it on an audio cd using nero and sometimes cdrwin. But there are these image files with a ".CDR" file extension that I couldn't extract/burn. I have tried to replace the extension with .iso but never succeded. I have done my research but the file ext. always points to corel which we all knew as a graphics program and not for audio. Please help me find a solution.

Video streaming (ie. you tube) works fine so I assume my connection speed is substantial. My problem is I cannot surf the web the way I used to. Always "problem loading page....." both I.E and Firefox (worse). I have to reload, refresh, and wait quite a while before finally loading a page. I have a wireless broadband connection. Please help.

  • Images appears very slow on web pages

What is confusing is that I do not have any problem playing videos at youtube but like my Yahoo homepage, graphics or images appear tooo slow or none at all. I could easily browse on other web pages like amazon but without any images of what they are selling. Is it my internet signal (I'm using wireless broadband connection approx. 600kbps on speednet) or is it my PC. Please help. (BTW this happened only a few days ago)
