salvaged speakers from an old crt tv?

Hi guys! My 36" 70kg sony crt finally gave up on me after years of service. It was maybe the last digital crt sony marketed with 5.1 output capability. Anyway best feature of this unit was the incredible audio clarity and tight bass. So before I dispose of it, I took the speakers out thinking that maybe I can make something out of it (maybe PC speaker or an upgrade to 5.1 to 7.1 HT) .

It is a pair of 4" woofers each with its own enclosure similar to that of a polk-audio m3 monitor. It also have a pair of 3"x1.5" oval speaker (or midrange) and a pair of 2" tweeter separately but attached by a plastic bracket to the woofer enclosures.

Ok here's the deal. The original wiring was intact meaning connected to each other like a pair of 3 way speakers. I connected both speakers to my stereo amplifier only to hear music without bass. Only high frequency sound is coming out of the woofer. Do I need to add a crossover? Honestly my knowledge about building speakers is almost nada. So I'll appreciate any input you guys could share. thanks

The previous cathode tubes purely mandatory one speaker. They final for 30+ yrs, on a similar time as those greater moderen tvs final 2 to ten yrs. The older tvs have a craftsmanship that are outfitted to final, while immediately's tvs are outfitted to fail so so you might get yet another one or have it repaired, and as quickly as greater you ought to via an prolonged guarantee simply by fact, for this reason, they're made with decrease priced areas. So decrease priced is rather a count of necessity. Take the yank muscle automobile and the hybrid import. A sixty 9 Chevelle may be maintained via somebody who had taken autoshop in highschool. however the hybrid has all kinds of electronics to administration and periodical recollects yet won't be able to stay to tell the story a 35 mph T-bone- that's totaled.

It likely was bi-amped., meaning the woofers were on one amplifier per channel, the mid/highs on their own amplifiers. I would see if you can liberate the amps and maybe audio processor from the chassis.
