Kids with nut allergies, has yours ever gotten a reaction from..?
foods that list "this product was processed in a plant that also handles...." or "manufactured on shared equipment that also processes..."? My daughter has a nut allergy and I avoid these products when I am aware of the processing. I'm sure she's had stuff like this (w/o incident) for instance, certain cake mixes are made in plants that handle pecans (daughter is severely allergic). I was wondering if the lables are for extra precaution or if reactions actually occur. And YES,I avoid them at all costs.

Yeah, it has occurred. We don't have a nut allergy, but my friends' son does, and he's had two altercations with a product from the same plant. For safety they only buy from dedicated plants.
Have you seen Mrs Robins site online? We have a wheat and corn allergy in our family, and so we buy a lot from them.

I avoid them with my son. In a severe allergy, a very small contamination can cause a reaction. If there is not a contamination, there will be no reaction. If two products are processed in the same facility, one has nuts, one does not... How will a comsumer know if the product that does not have nuts has not been contaminated? Its a chance I am not willing to take with my son. We carry an epi pen for him where ever we go just in case. But the only time he had a reaction was when we didn't know he was allergic and actually consumed the nuts themselves.
