What does "bumping rights" mean when you are getting laid off?

    It means that the more seniority you have the less chance you have of getting laid off,or the further down the list you go in line of getting laid off.

    In effect ,what you are doing is "bumping" the less senior people into a list of people that will be laid off first before you.
