Bridal Shower help?

My Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids are planning my Bridal Shower and have been looking around at different restaurants, but they all seem to be SO expensive! I really not comfortable with the girls spending that much money.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for an alternative? I was kind of thinking about reserving an area at a park, and doing catered sandwiches, along with a few salads. What do you think?

How about doing this finding a nice park with a shelter and having it there or you can have like a pot luck shower. I know it sounds crazy.. Have the guest to make their favorite dish and bring the recipe with it . Have a nice recipe shower and things. I like the thought of it .

You are a considerate girl and you can have a beautiful bridal show in a less expensive way. What would be nice would be the shower held in a lovely backyard of a friend or your own or a reserved area of a park too. The idea of doing catered sandwiches, salads would be wonderful. Also add a few assorted different cheese trays and crackers. Also raw veggies with a delicious dip. Have a punch bowl with some sparkling wine in it such as Asti Spumanti, Ginger Ale, and Hawaiian Punch. Mix together. You could also have some wine called White Zinfandel from California..It is delicious and most women love it. Women are always on diets and from all the showers I have been to through the years, sandwiches, salads, veggie trays with a dip, and cheese and crackers are very popular. Then a lovely square cake saying: "Showers of Happiness to.......(your name). and coffee and tea. Feed your guests first, then you open the presents. Then coffee, tea and cake are served.

depending on how many girls will be attending the shower, you could always have it at someone's home, or reserve a large suite at a hotel (still far less expensive than renting out a restaurant). A park would be a great idea, just remember that it can be tricky to "reserve" a spot and you'll want to be sure the weather will be nice.

The most fun and memorable bridal showers I've been to have been casual. Sandwiches, salads and good friends sounds like a great idea.

We just found a breakfast cafe that is normally closed. But the owner said she would love to host a luncheon shower if we would have a buffet. (Buffet means less servers/cleanup ppl needed). Keep looking. There are clubs like the Moose, VFW and other halls that offer reasonable catering. Check on luncheon and brunch menus. My sister in law didn't want a shower because she had never been to one (it wasn't a custom in her family and she felt greedy about it). Eventually, she agreed to a picnic in my backyard. I have a large deck and we had a wonderful time...I hired some of my daughters friends to waite tables (they wore those tux t-shirts) and we had a great time...but it was a ton more work than I anticipated...next time...I am going to spring for the brunch....call around there may even be some place in your area that already has a reasonable brunch, especially family run places or larger places that might have a smaller room you can have.... Have fun!

I have only been to bridal showers at people's homes. Usually, there are finger foods and cake for people to snack on, as well as punch and drinks. It is really up to you and your maid of honor to decide how casual or fancy you want the event to be. I have also been to a coed BBQ wedding shower which was fun because the families got to meet each other before the big day.

I just recently hosted a bridal shower for my best friend and my mom and I catered it ourselves (but my mom is a great Korean cook and we did an Asian theme). Another idea is to do pot luck where everyone brings their favorite dish and the recipe and everybody gets to exchange the recipes (I love parties like that). Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I think the park idea w/ a picnic lunch is a cool idea. Laid back and comfy. Restaurants can be "uptight" about ladies laughing and having fun. I know when a group of ladies get together they tend to have a lot of fun and get noisy.

Source(s): had family birthday dinner at fancy restaurant and almost got kicked out for being too noisy

You can do it at someones house or at a local church or school. Sometimes they will rent the gym out(if you need that much space) Just a few trays and platters from the local deli and a few home made dishes should do the trick.
