  • Looking for help with an event name?

Any suggestions for a name for this event?

The event is focused on families and kids, and is completely free, with the exception of food vendors. It is a full day event in a city park. There will be tons of carnival rides, games, exhibits, petting zoo, costumed characters, crafts, etc., demonstrations by various community organizations, and the fire dpt.

I can't come up with a name, so just thought I would ask to see if anyone else had any thoughts.

    Thank you!

  • What was the last straw for you?

I've tried so hard to be calm and collected throughout all the wedding planning, but as every bride knows, it gets stressful.

The last straw for me, that made me break down in tears was my FMIL leaving me an unkind message about not getting all of "her" invitations out - 3 weeks before the wedding! I just started sobbing because I've been planning this whole thing by myself, and I'm doing the best I can.

Anyway, I feel bad for letting it get to me, and I was just wondering if anyone else let the stress get to them?

  • Bachlelorette Party in San Francisco?

I am looking for some fun bars and clubs to go to for my Bachelorette party in San Francisco. We are coming from out of town, so we aren't too familiar with the SF night life.

Specifically, the only things I would like to avoid are high cover charges and strict dress codes (I am looking forward to wearing jeans with a cute tank top).

    Thanks for the help!

  • Looking for a specific brand of shoes?

I bought my favorite pair of sandals ever at Nordstrom Rack 3 years ago, and it's just about time to get an updated pair. The brand name is Verbatim, and the weird thing is, I can't find anything on them! There is no Verbatim show web site, and Nordstrom's web site searches come up with 0 matches when I search the name. Zappo's and other shoe web sites turn up with 0 results as well.

I was just hoping that someone on here had heard of the brand before, or knows if there is another brand name they are known as.

  • Tanning FDA laws... is it true?

Tanning FDA laws... is it true?

I once belonged to a tanning salon that required you show your goggles prior to tanning, stating that it was the law that you wear goggles while tanning. Ok, I buy that because the rays can cause damage to your eyes, if unprotected.

Last night I decided to switch it up, and went to mystic tan (spray on tan). They had the nerve to tell me that it was required by the FDA that I buy goggles to mystic tan. I would also need to buy a nose plug, and an additional mouth guard to prevent inhaling chemicals. They also said I should buy a $5 lotion packet to enhance my mystic tan.

My question is, is that true, or is it a scheme to make extra money? It seems that if it was required by law to use something for "safety" purposes, that the business would have to provide it for their customers.

  • Long train, outdoor wedding?

The gown I ended up falling in love with has kind of a long train. It wouldn't matter so much, however the ceremony will be taking place outdoors on a greenbelt.

Is it in poor taste to have the train down during the ceremony (I don't mind of it gets a little dirty) or should I keep it bustled up the whole time? Please keep in mind that the ceremony will only be 15 minutes, followed by pictures. The reception will be indoors.

Let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

  • Songs for my Bridal Shower?

It's going to be beach themed, outdoors by the pool. I'm trying to come up with great beach songs to have playing in the background. I'm thinking like Beach Boys, Under the Boardwalk... stuff like that. Any suggestions?

  • Bridal Shower help?

My Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids are planning my Bridal Shower and have been looking around at different restaurants, but they all seem to be SO expensive! I really not comfortable with the girls spending that much money.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for an alternative? I was kind of thinking about reserving an area at a park, and doing catered sandwiches, along with a few salads. What do you think?

  • Best Steakhouse in Las Vegas?

My fiance and I are celebrating Valentine's Day in Vegas, and would like to have dinner at a nice steakhouse on the 14th... somewhere on the strip, or not too far from the strip. We've had Gallagher's Steakhouse in New York New York before, but would like to try something different this time.

  • About Hydrangeas?

How well do they hold up in the heat? I would like to use them for my wedding centerpieces. My wedding is in August, however the reception will be indoors, and they will be in a vase with water. Does anyone have any experience with these flowers?

  • 1st time homebuyer In the state of California...?

I have two options that I qualify for and was curious if anyone knew anything about either of them.

The first option being the HomeChoice Program which offers a lower interest rate for 1st time homebuyers with a disability.

The other would be a 40 year fixed loan with down payment assistance up to 3% of the purchase price.

If you have any experience with either of these, I would appreciate any knowledge you have to share. Thanks!

As a Bridesmaid gift, would you rather receive a $100 Nordstrom gift card, or a piece of jewelery (necklace or bracelet) of the same value?
