Washing machine not draining.?

My washing machine quit working, I think due to being overloaded. After removing all of the clothing the cycles are off and the darn thing will not drain. Anyone have any clues??

First check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked anywhere. It is possible for small pieces of clothing to enter the drain system especially if it is overfilled and stop your pump. If this is the case you will have to disassemble the pump to remove the object. Their could be other things like a timer, or contacts that are not working. If it is a old machine you might be better off looking into getting a new one before spending a lot on repair. Good luck.

This may not be the problem with your machine but this happened when mine was only 6 weeks old. The machine wasn't draining so I called the repair man and ended up quite embarrassed.

I hadn't read the instruction book carefully enough.

The machine has a drain plug, with filter, low down on the back. It says in the book it should be cleaned out after every 6 washes. I hadn't cleaned it out for 6 weeks!

It's a nuisance to pull the machine out from the wall on a regular basis but I haven't had any trouble since. The repair man didn't charge me and my neglect was not covered by the warranty. Isn't he a nice man. He said a number of brands are like mine and I'm not the first person to be caught.

    Hope this helps.
