What do you do when the priest at your church says he doesn't have time for your confession??

I am a Catholic, and have been for 8 years, my mom got very sick with cancer, I didn't go to church, I stayed by herside throughout her process of dying. When I went back to Church I needed to do a confession before I could take communion, the priest didn't have time he told me to make an appointment, on Wednesday, which is impossible I have 2 small children that go to bed very early and the confession time was at 8P.m.. He was going to show up the following week10 minutes before church to do my confession but he didn't get there until late, then was in a hurry right after church, I got sick with pneumona and was in the hospital for 4 days the sister of the Church came for a visit but that ws it no priest not even 1 church member and I was in there enough time for the church to know, I feel like it is time to move on maybe find a different religion??? You see there are 2 priest for 3 churches and there is no other catholic churches around. Should I change my religion?

Update:

Some more details, the priests are from India, with my own ignorance I can't understand what they are saying, my 2 children don't understand nor my husband, We no longer have any activities in the church or Sunday school. Just SOOOOOOOOO discourage.

First off don't change your religion because of what a priest does.

Priest are very busy people like you are. Sometimes things don't always work out. BUT if you look it up in Canon Law it does say a Priest can not refuse you confession. He can put it off if he is busy for a short time until both or you are free or refer to you another priest.

I would recommend to see another priest for confession when you have time. Find one. Most priests love to hear confessions so don't worry about asking. If you must knock on a door and ask. It is their job and their life, so don't worry about interrupting them really. They will understand. If they don't, oh well, God understands.

God knows your problems and knows that you weren't able to go to confession. He understand. Don't beat yourself up about it. God knows and he understand and forgives you. Just do your best to make it to confession as soon as you can. If you do your best then you are not at fault and God will not hold that against you.

Whatever you do, don't leave the beauty that is the Catholic Church over something small like this. Pray for God's help and understand.

If you need help or support or have more question about your faith. Feel free to message me.

I will pray for you too.

    God Bless,

    The Stig

You do not need the priest. Make your confession directly to Jesus. The Bible teaches that believers ARE the priesthood and that Jesus is the intercessor between us and the Father. The Catholic priesthood says different because they want to maintain control, but it is obvious that they have lost control. If your priesthood can not serve you , then go directly to Christ. There is no need to leave the Catholic church if that is where you want to be, but you can take control of your spiritual life with the Lord's guidance. Forget this non-sense that only Catholics are saved and that you must obey the priesthood or go to hell---nowhere in the Bible is this commandment given. READ YOUR BIBLE.

You said that you were a Catholic for the past 8 years. what were you before? Changing Religion isn't any answer. Though I have changed my Religion from Roman Catholic to Muslim because of what I didnt believe. Although I think that to be spiritual doesnt mean you have to go to church. Make some time out of your day and Pray at home.

although Changing your Religion should be your choice totally and not other people's advise.

    God Bless you!

I personally believe you should consider converting to Scientology, a "religion" created by L. Ron Hubbard (no clue who that guy is) but , if the simple problem is that this particular priest couldn't pencil you in, you ultimately ask here, "should I change religion?" that is ridiculous. Would you buy a brand new car because one of your turn signals doesn't work? Just buy a new light bulb!, not the greatest analogy but I found your question odd. I am quite sure a conversion of faith isn't necessary, and if it were, the light bulb manufacturing sector would be out of business.....nah just find a priest you're comfortable with. I am sure you can understand that life wouldn't be life without the things we can't explain.

you may not be rebaptized in Catholicism. Baptism is as quickly as and continuously. you may bypass to mass top away yet you may no longer settle for communion till you bypass to admit & repent. you should bypass to a parish and consult from a clergyman approximately repenting and rejoining the church. Confession will certainly be one step alongside the way (and there may well be some themes to iron out in case you have been married exterior the church, or divorced, etc.).

apparantly the man of god (so called) is not acting as the true calling proclaims he should act.

Jesus himself said he would wipe every tear. that takes times, even the 6 billion people that are alive, and you add that to all the people that ever lived, it still takes a lot of time to keep a promise like that.

I believe the priest needs to repent and take confession himself.

he definitely neglected his duties with you.

remember that jesus appeared to more than 2500 people and each one of them were invited to Touch and Feel his wounds and prove to themselves that his resurrection was real. Jesus takes the time, and is faithful to forgive.

No, you shouldn't change your religion merely because of the priest or anyone that is working in that church makes you upset or did something wrong to you. You should consider first your faith. If you think there is something wrong with the doctrines/teaching of the church, then you can decide if you want to convert to another religion. I don't really think there is such religion that makes ALL its members/followers perfect.

Just search your heart my precious friend..and you will find Unspeakable Joy, Peace, Love, Kindness, Gentleness, Forgiveness, something No one here on Earth can offer you..

But Jesus can and He does.. :)

Easter Mass, and the Eucharist of Easter is an indulgence in regards to confession.

Easter Mass will allow you to take the host unto yourself as an indulgence without needing to confess your sins.

My opinion is that you need no religion or priest between you and God. You may address directly to God through your heart. He loves unconditionally all of us.
