Am I a pratt?

I take great care to drive always at or below the speed limit regardless of traffic conditions. By acting as a rolling traffic block I feel that I am contributing to road safety by reducing the number of people who drive too fast. Please answer in detail and list your reasons for your opinion. Beware of one word or derogatory answers they will not be popular.

You obey the law without being watched instead of behaving like an irresponsible child. What is more you are concerned about the welfare of others. You are the odd one out and I admire that as much as your superior personal values.

Everybody knows that thay are the best driver in the world and all others should do as you wish. If you want to do something useful try campaigning for better driver training (lobby your MP for example). Trying to impose your own standards on everyone else is probably having a negative effect on road safety in your immediate vicinty. Have your driving skill reassessed by the IAM, but be warned you might not like what you find - I didn't but got myself out of some bad habits I'd developed.

good i drive below the speed limit near schools and town centres etc especially if there may be children regardles of trafic but any where else i keep up with the flow of traffic but if no ones behind or i am going to bug any one i always drive a bit slower than i should do.

but preventing traffic from going at the speed limit where there is no obvious danger is silly and doesn't contribute to any thing

By driving below the speed limit without good reason (eg snow, ice etc) you could be causing more of a problem than solving. It could lead to drivers behind you attempting dangerous overtaking manoeuvres in order to continue with their journeys at the speed limit.

Whilst I am against speeding, nothing irritates most drivers more than being stuck behind someone going slower than the speed limit.

I can understand driving at the speed limit, but I caution you against driving below the speed limit.

When driving under the speed limit, you can actually be just as dangerous as someone speeding...especially if you are on a highway. If you are going under the speed limit on a two lane road, you will cause the person behind you to become frustrated. It might cause them to throw caution to the wind just to get around you...resulting in a head-on collision that could hit you too.

Stick with the designated speed limit, or a mile or two over.

Driving at or under the limit is fine. but driving 15 in a 45 is not.

I dont know where you are or what your laws are, but here in Tennessee, If you are driving under the speed limit & you have 5 or more cars behind you, it is the LAW you pull off to the shoulder to let them pass.

I think you are doing the right thing. Speed limits (with some stupid exceptions) are there for a reason. I would not tailgate you, I would keep a safe distance despite the dick behind me. Driving too slow below the speed limit for no reason however, can cause accidents and the police are within their rights to have words with you in that case. I have been close to colliding with a (as good as) stationary vehicle on the A19 before, as he was on a bend and driving 20 mph below the speed limit. That is just inexcusable.

Remember that if you drive well below the speed limit you can be done for impeding the flow if traffic.

Apparently accidents are more likely to happen in the slow lane on the motorway where people generally stick to 70, the rest who speed past at 100k are less likely to crash. Does this answer your question?

Tell me something. Do you find that people tear past you at the first opportunity whilst flicking two fingers at you and blowing their horn? If so I dont think you are contributing to road safety but increasing stress on other drivers and contributing to road rage, so because of that, yes I do believe you are a prat.

If somebody is driving right up my a rse, I will deliberately drive smack on the speed limit, this mostly happens in 30MPH zones, the a rseholes shouldn't be doing more than that anyway.
