Hi, i'm 5'1" 103 pounds. IS that too skinny?

I'm 15...and my parents want me to gain weight, but the thing is...i see other girls who are around my height and weight, but they look so much thinner. I do not have a skewed body image of myself, but i'm just wondering why i look normal, when lots of girls my height and weight look very thin.......it doesn't really have to do with muscles either because I think i have the same muscle to fat ratio as those girls.

also, is 103 a normal weight for a 5'1" 15 year old? what is the average weight?

i was actually 115 last year, but cut down most of my junk food and lost the weight through healthier eating (meaning no more fries, candy bars etc...)

*look up his trusty body mass index chart*

115 is pretty close to average........, 103 is acceptable but a little on the skinny side, nothing to worry about unless you are under 95lbs

By the way, good for you, for cutting out the junk food, I bet you feel a lot better, and have more energy.......

I'm 5'2 and weigh 125 and am constantly trying to get to 130. But I'm also black and we like to be on the "thick" side. Think video chick build. I eat alot, but no junk, no beef. Just fruits, fish, and veggies. You could just have thinner bones. I'm athletic and run and lift weights. That's a good way to add weight and don't worry, if you dont already have a really athletic body type, you will not get bulky or muscular; just defined and strong.

But just noticing you went from 115 to 103. Even by eating healthy that's too much of a drop. You may physically see yourself differently that what you truly are. I'm into health, fitness and nutrition and do alot of research. Too much weight lost. I'm almost 25 pounds heavier than you and where a 4-6. Eat more fish and ice cream wouldn't hurt you. Whole wheat breads and pastas will help. And look into nutritional drinks like Ensure.

    Hope that helps.

According to the BMI, your weight is alright. It's good that you've cut out junk food for the most part, nobody needs that. It doesn't seem like you have an eating disorder and that's great.

But be careful not to go lower than that weight. You might want to try working out (like strength training) to tone up, if that's what you're worried about. It might add a few pounds to your body, but trust me, it'll make you look so nice and lean. But please don't stop eating. :)

i don't have faith this question is an truthful question. you assert you desire to be anorexic yet you are able to not stop ingesting? you're like those different "people who're skinny." you're able to not ask questions that seem to mock people who surely are anorexic.

Please speak to your family doctor about you... your health, your size, your weight, your mental image of yourself.

You shouldn't check yourself againist others.

You need to only be healthy--

and the family dr. you see is the best judge of that.

    Please consider talking to him.

You are important and this does matter.
