Do you support Cheney's military deferments?

Do you support, morally or politically, the fact that Cheney deferred five times during the Vietnam era?

This is a serious question. I'm not trying to bait neocons into a bash-fest. I really want to know how Cheney supporters can rationalize the fact that he did everything he could to avoid military service.

Shouldn't he be considered a coward?

Full disclosure: I think Cheney is a war-mongering profiteer. I also think he's the epitome of a chicken-hawk. But I really do want to know how his past could logically be reconciled with his current leadership position and role in pushing for war in Iraq (and possibly Iran).

He did nothing cowardly. Many people got deferments for many reasons. Let me ask you; Do you support Bill Clinton running out of the US after he volunteered to serve during Vietnam? Was Clinton justified to go into Bosnia, and Somalia considering he admittedly dodged serving in Vietnam? Let's be fair on all sides, shall we, Lib?

Like you, I don't support Cheney or this war. But, I do wonder how Cheney is popular with the pro-Iraq, hawkish crowd, when he absolutely got out of Vietnam at a time when they were taking everyone. If they hate Clinton, the Rhodes Scholar, how can they possibly support Cheney(not a Rhodes Scholar), who obviously partied his way through Vietnam. It just seems completely partisan. John Kerry, in their eyes, is bad for going to Vietnam.?????

I do NOT support Cheney in any fashion. I agree with your thoughts concerning him.

Dick Cheney cut and ran from the Vietnam War on five separate occasions.

I think Cheney is great. He calls a spade a spade and doesn't take much crap from the lib media.

    Sure I support his deferments

No he shouldn't be considered a coward anymore than someone who doesn't know him calling him one on these boards.
