Jesus Bones: What about this docudrama could challenge the Christian faith?

I mean, really, why are Christians so dead-set against even the possibility that Jesus had a family? It's not like anyone was trying to prove anything beyond the possibility that our history of Jesus is a little off. I don't see how it would go against the Bible. At most the religion would have to adapt slightly to incorporate a married Jesus, but it wouldn't really contradict the Bible, as the Bible never says Jesus didn't marry and have a child. Neither does it fail to leave room for Jesus' remains to still be here on earth.

I'm not saying the actual show was all that great or compelling. Just wondering where all the resistence to the POSSIBILITY comes from. Thoughts?

It means that Jesus was a regular man and did NOT ascend into the heavens

It goes against the preconceived notions people hold. The church felt that it was threatened by haveing Jesus have had sex and childrena nd a wife.

Actually that is probably exactly what happened. How could Christ experience being human if he never had sex or married or had children. That could have all happened in the years of His life not mentioned in the Bible. It has nothing to do with Jesus' mission or his message in fact that would just have made him more human and therefore more able to take on the sin of the world and be a Savior for you, me and the world.

What the scientist think they have in no way matters to the faith of Christians. They are just talking, there is no way to prove that the Jesus they uncovered was THE Jesus of the Bible. He will never be found in any earthly tomb.

If Jesus din not ascend into heaven, and he actually had a wife and children, then the Bible would be wrong and Christianity would be a hoax. I know there are many so-called Christians that do make it look like a hoax, but they are fake themselves. However, this "Jesus' tomb" is a hoax just like all the others in the past. The fact that they have some DNA is a moot point. What can it be compared to in order to make a conclusion?? Nothing! Its a dead supposition.

Something as important as Jesus being married and having a child would certainly be in Scripture. But, it's not.

When Jesus was hanging on the cross, He looked at John and His mother, and told John to take care of His mother. Widows back then, if there were no men in the family, were left on their own.

If Jesus had a wife, don't you think He would have instructed John to take care of His wife and child, too?

Jesus didn't come to this world to procreate.

He came to save the world.

And He fulfilled what He came to do.

Here's the problem as I see it.

Christianity has always been set apart from other major world religionsdue in part to the Divinity of Jesus...that is, he was born of a virgin birth, physically rose from the dead and physically ascended into heaven. This is what many have touted as been special or unique about Christianity. Discovery of a wife and/or child, his tomb and/or bones would shatter the whole divinity thing..........the divinity of Jesus is the founedation of Christian mythology/traditions and many people believe it to have ACTUALLY happened....

Even more dangerous than the possibility of finding Jesus's bones, or that they showed Jesus had a wife and child is that they might encourage Christians to think about their faith. That the churches cannot permit.

It does not challenge the truth(Christianity) because it is a hoax, a lie, it is just some fool found a gravesite and said it is the tomb of The Christ, so that we Christians would abandon our faith, the Truth, that Jesus Christ was born of Virgin birth, died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day and now is enthroned in heaven and will come again to judge those that live and those that have died.

Since I read and study my Bible,I didnt watch this program.I knew it was a lie just by the commercials for it.If you will recall, the tomb was empty. There was no body inside. And Jesus was not married. He was here to save the world. He says constantly that He came to do His fathers will.We needed a savior so God sent His son

It goes against literalism, which no Christian believes in anyways (afterall, they claim Jesus brought a new covenant which means God must have been speaking metaphorically when he called the prior covenant 'Eternal and Unchanging').

But enough pretend they are literalists that it causes them problems in the areas of logic and critical thought.

All i hope out of this whole thing is that people will at least search deeper, even beyond the docu drama. I just wish people would do some more research and I hope if anything they keep searching for the truth.
