i have been looking for a good bowling ball...?

yeah, i have been searching for a good bowling ball. i have been bowling since i was about 8, however, it was very infrequently. it was usually concentrated to my summer vacations during the summer when i would bowl alot for about two weeks, then wait another year. i bowl more frequently now. i want to get more serious about it.

i average probably around a 150, but have my high score at 209 which i achieved twice in one night...which was really weird.

i imagine that if i had a more consistent bowling experience, i would be able to bowl better. using a different ball every time i go is a detriment. so what kind of ball should i buy? i have a medium to heavy hook and i am comfortable throwing a ball 15 to 16 lbs. i don't know how fast i throw it. that probably varies...

i just need a good ball, maybe with a late break for the pocket.

if anyone would be willing to talk to me about it via email correspondence, that would be great.

thanks all.

Any bowling ball out there can hook to it's maximum potential, depending on revolution rate and lane condition, but now, I think Brunswick has something with the new Fury that was just recently released. Before that, their Total Inferno was probably their hookingest ball.

Also, Columbia has the Big Shot, Ebonite has the Angular One, Hammer has the Hawg Wild, Elite has the Solar Eclipse, Morich has the Awesome Hook, Storm has the Paradigm Passion and Track has the Machine. These are probably the most hooking balls from each of the major manufacturers.

For me, and with full experience and a lot of knowledge due to using Brunswick for over 25 years, I would go with the Fury, or Elite's Alien bowling balls. Elite is a division of Brunswick that most people do not know about, but produces bowling balls for the PBA's various lane conditions.

    Check out Elitebowling.com or Brunswickbowling.com.

Without actually knowing about your physical game (how you release the ball, how fast, etc.) and how the lanes are conditioned at the house you frequent, I can't recommend a specific ball.

What I feel is more important is knowing who is going to drill the ball for you. An experienced ball driller is invaluable in many ways. The driller can recommend what ball would match with your physical game and what lane condition you will bowl on. More important, a good driller will provide a good fit when drilling your ball. A good grip is one of the keys to consistent bowling.

Ask the better bowlers in the house who drills their equipment. If you see another bowler with the same physical game as you, see what kind of ball they throw. Information is key. If this is your first ball, the driller will probably recommend a mid-priced reactive ball, with a fingertip grip. Weight of the ball is the heaviest you can comfortably throw. 15 pounds is the most popular.

I just bought a new ball myself, a Brunswick Scorchin' Inferno. It does hook a lot, but if that is what you want it is a great ball. It moves a lot on the backend too. It hits harder than any ball I have thrown.

Perhaps try a finger tip grip also, if you haven't already. That improved my hook a lot! Takes some getting used to, but I'd never ever go back!!

    Good Luck!
