What makes people get head lice? I mean where do they come from?

My son got my grandson last week end, and he had head lice. Is it because some people are nasty or what?

Update:

No Pen I don't think my little grandson is nasty, more like his mother! My grandson is just 2.

actually what most people dont know if that lice are little bugs that are attracted to clean hair. but that doesnt mean you have to not wash your hair :] i would suggest washing your hair every other day rather than every single day. People who use gel, hairspray, or lots of hair products usually dont get lice. if you do get lice you can either get lice shampoo or even mayonnaise works.

Can you say ignorant? Lice is easily spread between people any person can get it. It is spread by people to other people it doesn't matter how much you wash your hair or what ever. Jeez. Would you consider your grandson nasty now? Because with that attitude of only nasty people get it then he would be. Maybe this can give you the opportunity to change your views. Or maybe not. Well hopefully you used the correct medicine or someone did for him and washed all the bedding in the house etc... Its common for kids to spread it to each other don't worry.

You mainly get it from other people who have head lice. You are more likely to get head lice if you clean your hair really well. I'm not trying to say keep your hair dirty but, people with dirtier hair do not get lice as often.

usually it is if they are in contact with other kids. not knowing how old he is in preschool they might nap near each other or if they play games that they touch heads. It is not necessarily that they are nasty it might be someone he goes to school with. He needs to report it to the school so the other kids can be checked. you also need to get lice shampoo and comb. He should not go back to school till they are gone so he doesn't give it to other kids. all his bedding needs to be washed in ultra hot water and all stuffed animals need to be either washed or put in and air tight bag for 2 weeks. and this needs to be done at your sons house and the boys mothers house too. all people that live with him should be checked in case he had them for a while everyone else can get them too. they also have spray for the furniture. my kids have gotten them from school and it is a pain.

I think its when you dont shampoo enough and wash your hair regularly....and when you use someone elses hairbrush/comb who already has lice...
