After reading some of the questions posted in here...?

i agree, i believe it is because of the collapse of the family unit and the lack of morals being introduced at a young age. i'm 18 and feel very strongly that many of my so called "peers" know little or nothing about integrity. society seems to be rapidly declining and becoming completely carnal and temporal with little regard for dignity and virtue

Society is going to survive long after you are gone. The world will not end on December 22, 2012 at 12:22 pm, and I will be online and telling you so at 12:23 pm. Yes, there are lots of problems, as there always has been. With the internet, we just know so much more about what's going on in the world and so it seems that things are much worse. Say your prayers and do what you can to improve things, because we have more than 7 years, 9 months, 14 days and 21 hours and 3 minutes to straighten things out.

Regardless of whether or not the world will end in 2012. I would not want to spend my last yrs on earth degrating society and picking out its flaws. I have come across some extraordinary individuals in my life so far and there will be many more before it is my time to go.Look at what all has been accomplished. Try not to focus on the lack of intelligence some may have , but look at the humor.Everyone and everything has an impact on someone or something else, That is a beautiful thing. WE should never challenge ,mock ,or rdicule destiny.Work with it to the best of your abilitys and enjoy........

Yes, you're right and the Mayan and some other ancient cultures predicted that year too.

I do have to say though that, quoting Gandhi, "You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty."

And, at risk of sounding slightly hippy-ish, if we all only have a few years to live then we may as well do whatever makes us happy...even if that happens to be asking ridiculous, thick questions on here.

Don't think our youth are dumber. Most are way ahead of the last generation in technology etc. What they lack are manners, common sense and restraint. When the world ends it shouldn't matter anymore. In the meantime why not change the world by straightening out what ever youth you may through caring and sharing your experiences. Better than bitchin' and stewin' .

Yahoo Answers attracts the kiddies with their homework questions because they think they can sucker someone into doing their homework for them.

If you believe anyone younger than yourself is dumber than you ever imagined, what does this say about the parenting skills of the parents of these children? What does it say about home schooling, mandatory achievement testing, "No Child Left Behind," US spending priorities and the over-availability of instant communication and infotainment?

I agree.

And it's not even the youths' fault that they are so dumb.

We're seeing the 3rd and 4th genereation of kids raised by people who have no interest in how the kids turn out.

Their parents were otherwise engaged when they should have been tending to their offspring.

Good question. I have my doubts about that Mayan theory of the world ending, but they were obviously pretty highly advanced. I think that American society is likely to collapse soon enough, due to the apathy of each progressive generation.
