Did any moms out there ask your doctor to induce you?
Our parents live several states away... the baby (#2) is due may 21st, and my mom is planning on being here by the 19th. I was thinking of asking my doctor to induce my on my due date if I haven't had the baby by then. Has anyone ever planned their own induction? (I'm not worried about being induced, either...I was induced with #1 and everything went great). I would love for my mom to be here when the baby is born, since she wasn't for the first one...

I did with baby #1. We planned it for a week after my due date. It worked out good. My sis in law planned all of hers too. Hope this helps!

My husband is in the military, and is supposed to be out of town training around my due date. My doctor said that he'd have no problem inducing on my due date if that meant my husband could be there. It's a military doctor/hospital, so they see this kind of situation all the time.
Hopefully my daughter will save us all the trouble and be born early, but if not I'd rather be induced than not have my husband there. If it's that important to you to have your mom there, ask your doctor if they think it's safe. Good luck!

My friend asked her doctor to induce her 3 days before her due date. She had been having contractions for 2 weeks already. The doctor said no but only because the hospital was so busy she wouldn't get the attention and help she deserved.
Go for it and ask the doc can only say no

Hi, i was induced on my Due date (well the night before). My Obgyn asked if i wanted it on my due date, for the comfort factor not for a planned reason but I'd do it all over again the same way. The best part was that you knew they the bub would be here on that date no beating around the bush about it.

With baby number one, I was induced 4 days after my due date. With Number two, I had her on my due date.

I begged and pleaded with my doc when I was pregnant with my last one...I was on maternity leave from work at 60% of my normal pay, I had 4 other kids to support and their dad wasw between jobs...we were sinking financially so fast it wasn't funny...I had to get back to work fast and provide...Plus the stress of worrying about the money was killing me...I was sooo depressed...but they wouldn't induce I ended up waiting a week over (she came on her own too they were gonna make me wait 12 days over) and going back to work when my precious new daughter was just 2 1/2 weeks old...at least if they would've done it I would have had another week to spend with her...

Just because everything went great with your first induction doesn't mean it would go great a 2nd time...All you can do is ask if the doctor denies your request you'll just have to live with it. Babies aren't born according to YOUR schedule...
