    Is it a 3.0 or a 3.8?

If its a 3.0 that was taken care of even moderately it is worth it. It is a very dependable engine except for that one part. Also it is the more common engine and was used much longer, so parts and repair will be cheaper.

If its a 3.8 and was taken care of well then it is probably worth it, but dont expect the engine to last a whole lot longer no matter what you do. It is a relatively unreliable engine that requires pampering to last. It is also less common and larger, so it is typically more expensive to repair.

sable wasn't a real bad car for the most part. Personally I am not a ford man but if the vehicle has buckets of rust and lots of miles then yes this water pump is the sign of what's to come. Breakdowns that is.

id have to kno it was leaking first. its prolly just the water pump gasket, u prlly dont need da whole water pump.id also check that the freeze plugs in the block arent leaking,or no hoses are cracked and leaking, that the thermostat isnt sticking, and that all the air has been bled out of the water lines, all of these can cause it to run hot. if its the water pump this job isnt hard you'll jus have to disconect the hose and shud only have 2 bolts holidin it on.

If it's a decent car otherwise, it should be worth a new water pump. This isn't THAT big a job. Shop around for a fair price unless you have a mechanic you know and trust, in which case, ask HIM to look the car over and answer this question.

depends on how nice car is.but if you know somebody should be able to repair for 150.to200.dollars.but it comes down to what the car is worth to you.
