What is the chance that Barack Obama will win the Democratic nomination? (asked March 14 2007)?

I think its pretty much a lock. A lot of people are underestimating the unregistered black demographic. If even half of the unregistered black community registers and votes it would be a land slide victory. Beig that he is the very first credible black presidential candidate, i think he may be able to persuade non registered people to register and vote.

At this time (March 14,2007), Senator Obama has about a 50% chance of getting the nomination from the Democratic Party as a candidate for President in 2008.

It's interesting though that in our culture, a person who's half-white and half-black is considered a black person and likewise, a person who has a Muslim parent and a non-Muslim parent is automatically considered a Muslim!

Senator Obama's black Nigerian father and his white American mother were divorced since he was a toddler and his father went back to Nigeria. He never saw his father as an adult but once when the senior Obama came to this country for a visit. The senator was brought up by his mother and even before her death, by his Christian white grandparents in Hawaii. He chose to become a member of a Christian church and has been so for many years.

I'm not saying being half white and brought up by his white family make the senator better than had he been totally black and /or being brought up by his black relatives. Likewise, I'm not saying being a Christian automatically makes him a better person and a better candidate. What I'm saying is that Senator Obama has a multi-racial biological background and a mainstream upbringing that are very much representative of our great and diverse nation.

To typecast Barack Obama as a black Muslim is highly inaccurate and perhaps even vicious.

Barack Obama has little, if any chance of winning the white house if the election plays out in the normal way. Seriously, what in his past qualifies him for the job? One cool speech?

I truly believe that he was positioned by the Democratic party as a frontrunner as some kind of diversion. He is more a mission statement than a true contender. The only way he can come away as the Democratic nominee, never-the-less the president would be if America really falls in love with him. To cause that to happen, he has to come at us with everything he has and generate a true cult following. He has to be powerful and presidential. I haven’t seen any evidence that he possesses those qualities… yet.

Got some dice? -Roll 'em. THOSE are the "odds". The Election is a LONG time away yet, & a LOT of unforseen things are going to happen along that way... Maybe the best way to reduce the chances of being disappointed- is by picking TWO candidates from the current selection, & putting your money down on THEM. That way, if you're REALLY lucky- they'll end up as running mates & you'll be thrilled! Oh- & by the way; I'd be happy with either Barack OR Hillary (but I won't "push my luck" by suggesting they should end up as running mates! :) ).

Barrack Obama has a shot at winning the Democratic nomination but I dont think he's the favorite.

I'd put his chances of winning at 30%

i don't think he will win the nomination.. clinton is just too powerful and has too much money to spend against him. But i do think it will be close and fun to watch each of them tear the other one apart..

I'm afraid to say old Hills will get it.

and I'm especially sorry to say the country is not going to elect a black man, especially a Muslim as president.

I dont think he will get it America not ready for black president Dont think Hillary will either and if she does she aint getting elected either ........I like Republican Mike Huckabee
