Is affirmative action still needed in todays society?
Do we need the affirmative action legislation to remain in effect, Or has the time for racialy motivated legislation passed? There is a special interest group for every posible situation in this country, do we really need to impose laws onto the private sector in order to provide equality? If so is it truely a state of equality or mearly fear of prosicution?

Affirmative action, like any other form of state-sanctioned racism, needs to go.

Absolutely!
There is still widespread workplace discrimination, ESPECIALLY in the private sector!
White males are disproportionately concentrated in the better jobs, while minority males, and women of all colors, are disproportionately concentrated in the lower paying jobs.
This is especially true for African Americans, who are still less likely to be hired and less likely to be promoted once they get a job, even if they're better qualified than applicants of other races.
Latinos are more likely to be hired than Blacks, but they get lower wages. Some companies still pay their Hispanic employees more than their White workers, even though they do the same job.
As for women, pregnancy discrimination is still common - women of childbearing age still get illegally asked if they plan to have kids, and pregnant women are still illegally fired due to their pregnancy.
We're going to need affirmative action for a very long time.
If anything, affirmative action needs to be STRONGER - with strict, legally enforceable quotas, to insure that women and minorities get their fair share of jobs and promotion opportunities.
