Annoying College cheerleader during March Madness?
I've noticed an annoying trend during the tournament of the cheerleaders just yelling "ooooooooh' while the opposing team has the basketball. Michigan State and Duke have always done it, and yesterday, I heard Notre Dame do it as well. I understand the point of annoying the other team and to cheer on your defense - but after a while it gets so old and unbearable as a fan. Can't they do something original? I don't see the point and fot that much the point of cheerleaders at all. What do you think?

Other than set cheers, of which every team has at least a few, the most common thing to do on defense (and this goes for every single school I have heard of seen play collegiate sports) is to yell, "ooooh". Yes, you have cheers and such that demonstrate school spirit, yadda yadda yadda, but when you just want to make noise to distract the other team, this works the best. That or those cowbells that Mississippi St. has. Don't worry, all these teams do have cheers in which they are in fact led by the cheerleaders, they're just mostly done during the TV timeouts (or between downs in football).
