In Britain they have "new potatoes". Ones that have been picked early in the growing cycle and according to

Wikipedia they have not been "cured" yet to thicken their skins. Why can't we find "new potatoes" here in the US?

Update:

Yes but red skins are not necessarily new potatoes. Are the potatoes you're finding technically "new potatoes"?

New Potatoes are all around in the USA -some are even Red skinned. Potatoes are not CURED.

New Potatoes are just a different VARIETY than some of the thicker skinned potatoes.

Must be you live in an odd area. I eat them all the time. Usually they are redskins!

edit to add... yes, when I get them, they are specified as 'new baby potatoes'. They are very small and tender. And have a sweeter taste.

We always just grew our own and picked them when young. If that's not an option for you, perhaps you could find a local farmer's market that would have some. The point is that they are picked while quite young and small.
