Many people have misconceptions about what a Christian should be, and how they should act. Some people expect Christians to be the epitome of Christ Himself, and there are misconceptions about Him too. Christians are expected to love everybody, never get mad, in fact never have a bad day. Just ain't true.

I don't think people assume all are, but I do know a few people who call themselves "Christians" and speak and act the opposite, so they really are hypocrites! That's why true Christians should be careful of their words and actions to the people around them at all times!!

It is not true that all Christians are hypocritical. It is true, however, that many fundies are hypocritical.

They are hypocritical, for starters, in taking the label "Christian" or "evangelical" for themselves, getting a free ride on those honorable words, instead of admitting what they really are: fundamentalists.

Fundies are just a minor fringe of Protestantism, and Protestantism is just the minority portion of Christianity. The fundies make a lot of noise but are really not significant.

Well maybe because when answering questions about why Christians talk about the one big sin of homosexualty - and are judgemental and quote the bible when it comes to homosexuality they answer -like this (and this is your answer):

There isn't one big important sin, all sin is bad and equal. Telling a white lie is just as bad as murder because both is sin. Human's tend to measure sin when it shouldn't be measured, it is all bad.

PLEASE. If your child tells a white lie - will you give them a time out or send them to prison for life?? And when a man murders one of your family members will you want him in prison for life or will you just give him a time out? You know darn well that YOU will measure the sin - just like everybody else.

So - think about it - you answered a question - like you did above - and then asked why people assume that ALL Christians are hypocrits? Well - you're not helping matters any!

    al?

    is that what you meant?

I guess many believe this because they just do not like knowing that there is a God, and that sin is real and so they want to find something "wrong" with christians so they can justify why they do not need God.

Everyone looks for justification for themselves---when we are ONLY justified through Jesus Christ, when we repent and believe in Him.

-BUT this does not mean some are hypocrites--we can all fall short in this category, and we must always be aware of what we say....as the Bible tells us to always see the log in our own eye before pointing out the speck in someone else's eye.

I happen to know for a fact that all christians aren't hypocrites. I happen to know some that I like and respect very much.

However, when we refer to the hypocritical christians, we're referring to the vast majority that are, in fact, hypocrites. If you aren't a hypocrite, then none of those negative statements apply. Good for you.

Because non-Christians get a lot of crap from the Christians around them. because the majority of Christians they knew were mean to them, they assume all Christians are like that.

Source(s): I am a religious neutral, I get a lot of crap to, but fortunitly, not all christians are mean.

I do not assume that all Christians are hypocritical. I do, however know that they are all delusional. But even that doesn't stop me from liking them. I have lots of friends that are Christians.

Because in here - as in the politics section - it's just so easy (translation: lame) to make sweeping generalizations and use words like "all."

It takes too much brain power to consider people as individuals; you can't have a decent prejudice that way.

Oh, and this applies to believers and NON believers equally.

Is it any wonder that the world has given birth to radicals like Timothy McVeigh, Osama Bin Laden, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, et al?

When you get too full of yourself, Jesus and all other prophets pale by comparison.

I, for one, don't. There are certainly christians who try and live their faith as they believe Jesus taught.

However, there are certainly christians who seem to be hypocrites when it comes to living a christian life. This includes christians who are in positions of power in their churches and in the secular world. When institutional christianity refuses to condemn them it lends credence to the idea that christian churches in general are hypocritical.
