Does anyone know what the meaning of the word "meek" is, in the classic sense?

Meekness is not weakness but strength under control.

My interpretation

(Not that I believe this will happen, this is just my interpretation)

After everyone whose killing is done killing each other, the meek will rise up and inherit whats left of the earth.

Finally my degree in Early Modern Literature (KJV-era) comes in handy!

It means 'soft,' or, less perjoratively to modern day, 'gentle' or 'kind.' It doesn't mean 'weak,' 'shy,' or 'humble.'

'Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.' = 'Be kind to your fellow man, and you'll be rewarded for it.'

Try a dictionary.

It means - Weak, stupid, lowly. Like all those that find comfort in christ insanity fairy tales. Yes the worst elements will inherit the earth - LOL!!! Christ insanity writings are chock full of perverse stories and bad, even suicidal advice and lots of lies like the one about the meek.

i would absolutely love to "inherit" the earth from you christians. like if you all went of to live on another planet or something and left earth to us nonbelievers and people of different faiths. i think we could make earth a far better place than it is now.
