Severe lower back pain?
My lower back has been hurting for almost a week now. I got up today and I can hardly move without being in pain. I've already taken 4 Ibuprofen and it's not helping with the pain. What could be going on that is causing me to be in so much pain???
I am 22 Years old. I am not over weight that's all I am telling you about that.
Thank you for all the great answers. I am going to be making an appointment with a doctor to try and figure out what is causing all the pain. Since I am having a hard time picking a best answer, I'm leaving it up to you to decide.

Could be a trapped nerve. Exercises will help. See doctor soon. You don't mess with your back. Once your backs gone you're pretty much up a gum tree.

Try laying on the floor, put your legs up over the edge of the couch and do small scrunchies, not sit-ups. Only lift your head and shoulders about 2 or 3 inches off the floor. Strenghtening your stomach muscles helps to protect your spine. I know, I've had back problems for 30 years. Had a failed fusion surgery and now have a morphene pump implanted in my stomach. Go see a good orthopedic doctor.

You did not mention your age, sex, weight, height, sexual habits, whether the pain started suddenly in a morning or increased slowly day by day and whether it followed some hard physical works like heavy weight lifting and physical games and whether there is fever with it. It is very tough to give you a good suggestion with so little information.
Anyway, I would suggest you not to be careless with such pain. Just go to a doctor, if possible, just now. Please........
Wish your early recovery and happy life.

Most definately go to the doctor and have it evaluated. Until you get an appointment, remember that the worst thing you can do for a sore back is to NOT move. Don't lay around all day even though it hurts. Keep taking something for pain and try warm compresses to help until you get to the doc
Good luck!

Go to the doctor,
there's many different things it could be. But mainly it could be a pinched nerve thats affecting your back. He'll be able to more clearly tell you what's going on and perscribe some pain medication and/or anti inflamatory's to alleviate the pain.

Perhaps you have a herniated disc. One of your discs between the bones in your spine may have protruded and come into contact with some nerves. This will cause a lot of pain. Please see your doctor.

Clay can help you. Read about it; the best medicine ever (it will be wonderful to take from the country not from the drug store!)

Better go see a doctor, you might have a kidney infection
and that requires antibiotics to cure.
