Do they use almagam for dental spacers?

They say almagam is not good for you?

Spacers are made of rubber or silicone-type materials.

Amalgam (silver filling materials) are still used for

fillling cavities, especially in back teeth where

composite (white) fillings would not hold up

    as well.

I just got spacers today and ouch. No, they do not use almagam in spacers. Spacers are just pieces of rubber.

"They" are correct. Amalgam is NOT good for you. It will, over time, 'spread' which will in turn try to 'spread' the tooth, thus cracking it and next thing ya know, you're in the middle of a several-hundred-dollar-and-painful root canal and then a God-Knows-How-Much tooth restoration because of it.

one word, three syllables - COM-POS-ITE. Ask your dentist about composit. Good luck!!

No, spacers are just rubber bands, aren't they?

Plus, I don't think amalgam is used anymore. They use other composites these days.
